Katrina Kaif's 10-Year Journey In Bollywood

There's something about Katrina Kaif that easily distracts you even in the moments you can't afford to. Is it her drop-dead gorgeous looks? Or her captivating smile? Or her hour-glass figure? I guess it's the whole irresistible package the lady comes with. No doubt, she's called the ultimate testosterone magnet! While men find her too drool-worthy to handle, women turn green with envy seeing their men's desperate states.
That Katrina is a hot property in Bollywood today, needs no elaboration. Nor does the fact that the girl fell into the lap of luxury through merely spending most of her hours either in front of a mirror or in the gyms. Yes, her acting abilities have yet to cast a spell on us. Not that the stunner hasn't improved her dramatic skills. But her oh-so-sensuous appearances are so overpowering that the viewers end up happily overlooking those stone-dead expressions on her flawless face. An obvious reason why big banners never care two hoots before making way to Katrina's kitty.
As she completes a decade in Tinsel Town this month, her Boom-to-Dhoom ride piques our curiosity yet again. Fine, her success story is not really an enigmatic one. But who cares when we are paraphrasing The Katrina Kaif's journey in cinematic world!
THE BOLLYWOOD BREAK
Ten years back, in 2003, Katrina opened her B-Town account with Kaizad Gustad's Boom (that released on 19th September). Despite boasting of Amitabh Bachchan, the film failed to fetch a single good word about it. It was trashed as nothing more than a sleaze fest. Boom bombed at the box-office. Katrina went unnoticed, in spite of the no-holds-barred approach she embraced for her launch vehicle.
The paparazzi was going berserk talking about this hot thing, who was now featuring in surveys and polls for the world's sexiest women, and was topping most of the lists too! Katrina Kaif had become an eye-popper, courtesy her sensuous figure and striking features.
Her next few roles rendered her a stronger hold in the industry. New York (2009) was a critical and economic hit in both India and overseas. The film didn't have her only as a pretty prop; Katrina did display some welcoming signs of improvement in her performance also. She had realized that only a good-looking face and sexy curves were not enough to relish fixed fame here.
The same year, released Rajkumar Santoshi's blockbuster comedy, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, starring Ranbir Kapoor alongside Kaif. Their fresh pairing warmed the cockles of our hearts, hands down. The two looked absolute delight as crazy screen-sweethearts. So much so that we wanted to see more of them together. As a result, Raajneeti (2010) happened. Though the political thriller didn't have Ranbir and Katrina as romantic partners, we surely loved the dynamic relationship the two shared in it. Katrina, as a bubbly babe in the initial portions and a serious bahu towards the end, was well appreciated for her diametrically opposite makeovers. Her transformation from the glam to the gritty may not have come across as a natural one, but the girl was certainly trying hard to get there.
In her new-found quest to boost her filmography with more substance-oriented roles, Kat never sidelined her famous style and sizzle. A clear example of that was seen in her next, Tees Maar Khan (2010). In her entrancing dancing shoes as the seductress Shiela, Kaif declared she was the ultimate bombshell. Though her acting chops in the fun flick lapped up mixed responses (most critics were disappointed), it won't be an exaggeration to call her fiery whirls in Shiela Ki Jawaani one of the reasons of the film's happy report-card at the box-office. There was no stopping her after this feat.

NO STOPPING HER NOW
Zoya Akhtar's dramedy, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011), saw Katrina as a total revelation. The actress surprised us in the commercial blockbuster, infusing miraculous novelty into the film.
That was not all. Katrina was destined to savour more heights and many career peeks. Next was Kabir Khan's spy thriller, Ek Tha Tiger (2012), opposite Salman Khan. The film not only broke many box-office records, but also clutched the slot of second highest Bollywood grosser with super smooth ease. The stunning lady put in a confident act in the film's action as well emotional sequences.
Everyone was applauding this tigress' back-to-back, ever-growing winning roars. Even the trade pundits gave her a standing ovation for her super ability to turn everything to gold. And while we thought we had seen Katrina Kaif's biggest offering, out came the runway success, Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012). She was undoubtedly the romantic film's most charming surprise. Firmly playing her subtle part with utmost tenderness. Yes, she appeared beautiful yet plastic in the intense sequences. But our loved Barbie doll was clearly getting better with her emoting abilities.
KATRINA, CURRENTLY
Kat's courtyard is overflowing with dazzling offers, and the smart girl is lapping up all the imposing ones. Next, the B-Town diva will be seen in the third installment of the best-seller franchise, Dhoom, opposite Aamir Khan. Katrina will be reportedly seen in an all sexed-up avatar in the movie, performing hard-core action, apart from wooing her screen-man. Then, there's Bang Bang with Hrithik Roshan. After her crackling chemistry with HR in ZNMD, the two are expected to burn the screens yet again.
Her rumoured beau, Ranbir Kapoor, becomes Kaif's hero yet again, in Anurag Basu's next, Jagga Jasoos. With a detective plot, the film will be cashing in on the two sizzlers' delightful bonding we have witnessed previously. Katrina has also signed Abhishek Kapoor's Fitoor, opposite the latest Bollywood sensation, Sushant Singh Rajput. The film is based on Charles Dickens' classic novel, The Great Expectations.
Wow! That's quite a lot to look forward to! While Katrina completes her Khan-trio with Dhoom 3, she is set to work again with Hrithik and Ranbir too. A remarkable journey of ten years in the industry, I must say. Way to go, girl!
