Agree that an eye or an eye is not the best approach (even though a part of me wishes that the girl would do so in self defense, so that the guy knows just how it feels to be on the receiving end).
The law needs to reinforce a life imprisonment without any possibility for parole or bail, unless if a person has completed at least 30 years in jail. Serious crimes which destroy a person's identity, employment opportunities with life long scars cannot be dealt with lightly. Also, the faces of the ones who have committed this act should be revealed to public.
Just regulating the sales of acid is not enough, because there has been a recent incident of a person throwing hot oil. The law needs to go one step further towards assuring safeguarding of rights of victims. Would prefer if the guy is made liable for the expenses incurred in treatment too...that would be apt.
