| Married To Music: Amit Tandon with wife Ruby | When singer-turned-actor Amit Tandon landed in Mumbai on February 10, he was grinning from ear to ear.
He had his hands full — on his right arm was his blushing bride Ruby and in his left hand was Balaji's chit to return to Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.
The former Indian Idol contestant is also set to launch his first ever music album. First, tell us about your wedding.
Well, I'm thrilled I've married the girl I love. Her name is Ruby. God has been kind to me. We had a big fat Punjabi wedding in New York on January 6. We even had a Mata Ki Chowki. I got my clothes done from A D Singh in Mumbai. He is expensive, but the clothes are lovely. Did you go for a honeymoon?
No. We will go for one when my album recordings are done. We intend going to Italy and Greece. Ruby was studying medicine. Has she completed her course?
She'll be doing her research at Lilavati Hospital for a year. Then she will go back to the US for a few months to wind up her studies. That period will be tough for us, but I will go with that; doctors from the US get fat pay packets in India! What happened to your music album?
It will be out in June. It's turning out very well. I quit Kyunki to work on that album. So how did you return to Kyunki?
To be honest, I didn't think I wanted to return. But as time went by, I started missing the unit. And when I saw the guy who had replaced me (Vishal Watwani), I knew I could do the part better. I realised I had dropped out of the limelight; as an actor it is important to be in people's mind.
I messaged Ekta and she was kind enough to reply that I could come back if I wanted to. Thereafter, I was in touch with the production team. I started shooting for Kyunki again from February 15. Are you doing up your house in a different way now?
Not really. I have kept my flat in Windermere (in Lokhandwala Complex, Andheri) very clean and neat! But yes, Ruby is putting up some of our wedding pictures in the drawing room and bedroom. We might move out after my album is out; we intend to get a bigger flat. Planning to start a family right away?
No. Kids are a big responsibility. They can wait. I don't want to be woken up in the middle of the night so soon! But yes, we both love kids and will definitely start a family in the future. What is Ruby's take on Manthan?
She doesn't like my character. She thinks he's a brat who deserves to be slapped not once, but many times! http://www.mid-day.com/hitlist/2007/february/152093.htm |
