I have only ever talked about religious beliefs and practices with close friends, that too after years of knowing them and their reactions [it is different online😛]

Well, he does have the right to criticize a certain belief. He doesn't need to put up with another person's thoughts or beliefs as such. However, he needs to be a little careful with his thoughts and words when expressing them to strangers. Not everyone is as jolly and open as he is. India is a country where people take offense to the slightest negativity against their faith, spirituality, etc. etc. etc. That's what Dolly Bindra had pointed out during her one altercation with Manoj (the whole baap pe jaana nahin incident).

I dont think pratyusha over reacted...she ws talking so politely to him...even when he was asking questions abt her beleifs...she was just explaining why she believes in him.She asked andy not to talk abt dese things to her but in a very normal way...without any taunt or something.She cud hv been offended but she ws still sweet to andy.

Andy was out of line. It's one thing to be curious but he was initially mocking her choice. Why else would he say Satya SAI kyu. If it was Shirdi SAI I would understand. He has no right to mock someone else's choice. At first Kushal commented and laughed and Andy joined in POSSIBLY thinking they can ridicule her in a gang but Kushal backed away so Andy changed tactics because he realized it could backfire on him. Pratyusha being polite in repsonse to his mockery helped diffuse the situation a lot quicker.
