Bhedaghat, situated approximately 20 km from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, is known for the cluster of marble rocks which lie on the opposite banks of river Narmada. The marble rocks, soar to a hundred feet and sparkle when sunlight falls on it. Bhedaghat, it is believed, evolved from the name Bhairav-ghat.
Besides those in white, marble rocks in white, pink and blue are a sight to behold. The white rocks with seams of black and dark green are worth watching. The entire spectacle undergoes transformation on moonlit nights.
The river itself is object of veneration. Narmada originates from Amarkantak and flows into the Arabian Sea. Among the most sacred rivers of India, it is believed a dip in the river washes away sins. According to Hindu mythology, Ganga river became polluted by millions of people taking dip in her waters to wash away their sins. To cleanse herself, Ganga acquired the form of a black cow and took bath in Narmada. Narmada is considered daughter of Lord Shiva.
Narmada which flows placid soon turns turbulent as it plunges to depth of 98 feet at Dhuandhar. The plunge creates a mass of mist and presents an awesome spectacle.
Mining of marble at Bhedaghat is strictly banned. However, show pieces made of marble and soapstone available at the rural market are a must buy.

- A song from Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai was also shot at Bhedaghat. The song featured Raj Kapoor and Padmini.
- Another movie Pran Jaye Par Vachan Na Jaye was also used Bhedaghat as its location.
