Papa delays Ekta's film

Director Mahesh Pandey's dream of completing the Ekta Kapoor-produced Bhojpuri film Gabbar Singh in one schedule has gone haywire.

Expected to complete the schedule in 31 days in Azamgadh (Uttar Pradesh), the writer-director has been besieged with problems.

Fog block

Firstly, the chilly weather is not permitting Pandey to shoot as many scenes as he had planned each day. Pandey says, "We did not expect that there would be such dense fog in February. We thought that the weather would have improved by now."

Secondly, Kapoor's father Jeetendra could not shoot his scenes when he reached Azamgadh on Sunday.

He was supposed to start shooting from Monday, but had to return to Mumbai that very evening. "Jeetuji had to rush to London as something urgent came up. He could not avoid it, so he had to leave.

Now I will shoot his scenes at a later date," says Pandey.

Cursed!

Jeetendra's absence means that lead actor Ravi Kissen too is relatively free. Consequently, Kissen is leaving the unit for a few days and will return when Jeetendra is free.

Pandey says, "Ravi has maximum scenes with Jeetuji, as the film revolves around the clash between Thakur (Jeetendra) and Gabbar (Kissen)."
Commenting on his run of bad luck, Pandey gets a little philosophical.

He says, "I think history is repeating itself. I had read in the book The Making of a Classic by Anupama Chopra that Ramesh Sippy had a lot
of teething problems while making Sholay in 1972. The same thing is happening with me now!"
