The Mughal track will soon begin in Sony Entertainment Television's Bharat Ka Veer Putra --- Maharana Pratap.
And with this will enter new faces in the show. After Gufi Paintal, who will play Humayun (Emperor Akbar's father), actress Jaya Bhattacharya has been almost finalised to play one of the most influential characters of the Mughal era.
She will play Maham Anga. For those uninitiated, Maham Anga (died 1562) was often referred to as Mughal Emperor Akbar's foster mother as she took care of young Akbar while his own mother, Hamida Banu Begum was mostly away throughout his growing up years. She had an influential presence in Akbar's life and enjoyed great power.
The period is referred to by some historians as 'The Petticoat Government', suggesting that the foster mother attempted to keep Akbar as a puppet ruler. When contacted, Jaya said, "I have no news yet."
