Chapter 5

Three agonizing hours later, RK finally heard the news.

"The patient Yvette Lemuela Nesh will be released now. I am sorry Mr. Kundra but, we cannot keep your wife in psych watch. We have strict orders to erase her name from our records. Whatever medication we give her, is also off the books. There's nothing to be done here, except wait it out. The worst is behind us. She will likely be manic for another few hours or, days. Nothing major. There's really no need to stay, if you ask me", the attending physician offered a nervous smile, anticipating a strong reaction from Rishabh.

He looked angry and rightfully so. What use is a private healthcare system if the wealthy cannot exploit it for their petty problems? If he wasn't going to get any special treatment in this house, might as well join the socialist bandwagon!

"I don't understand. Money is no object. I will pay double the rent. Can't you kick some poor folk out? Put her in instead?" He wiggled his fingers in front of the now embarrassed doctor.

"I am sorry Mr. Kundra", she said. "But, like I said before, I have strict orders from Dr. Haddad"

Wait a minute, why did that name sound so familiar?

"Ms. Yvette's father?" she answered the burning question the air. Right, his father-in-law. That bas***d! What was his issue now?

He nodded his head, expecting the woman to continue her explanation.

"I have to get going. All I can tell you is, Dr. Haddad does not want anyone knowing about his daughter's condition. Her last electroconvulsive therapy was performed here. I was the doctor but, I am bound by many agreements. I only said this because Yvette tells me you are family. Take care of her, she really is a good kid".

As soon as the doctor left, two medics escorted Madhu to the lobby in a loopy state. Her body was swaying side to side, high as a kite.

"We've given her 100mg of Olazapine. Unfortunately, with anti-psychotics, we can't offer anything else for the mania".

The nurse offered an apologetic look and as he was about to walk away, he felt a hand clutch his collar.

"Eh eh eh. What do you take me for? Haan?" Rishabh screamed at him, anger radiating off his face.

The nurse trembled in his arms but, managed to maintain a straight face.

"I will tell you. Let me go first".

Rishabh eased his grip on the man. The nurse slipped a business card in his hand, assuring RK that this number would answer all his questions.

Drs. Levi and Raani Nesh (PhD.s)

Chairs of Research,

Judaism Studies,

Affiliations: Tel Aviv University & Delhi University

"Call from Yvette's phone", the nurse gave him one last hint before disappearing. Rishabh rung up the number, holding on to Madhubala on the other arm.

"Dr. Nesh's line. How may I help you?"

"..."

"..."

"Yvette, is that you? Hold on, let me get Raani".

The man on the other end of the line seemed to be rushing over to other people in the room, frantically. Finally, a woman picked up.

"Ev? Eva? Are you alright? Do you need me to come down there? Eva, it's me, Raani".

"..."

"Your brother is not here at the moment. I'll call him", the woman signalled someone to call the man in question. "Where are you? Speak to me Ev".

Madhubala was closing in on Rishabh, intent on listening to the phone conversation.

"This is Rishabh Kundra. I am here at the City Hospital with my wife Madhubala Kundra. Her maiden name was..."

"I know who you are", the woman cut him off abruptly. "Is she alright? Eva? I mean Madhubala?"
"Yes, the hospital staff told me you had answers to my questions. I am confused, why aren't they admitting her? What's going on?"

"..."

"..."

"My name is Dr. Raani Nesh. I am Yvette's sister in law. I cannot say anymore over the phone. Just keep her safe please. Take her home and I will be right over. Me and my husband are on the next flight to Mumbai. Please don't let anything happen to her. Please?"

"Of course. Would somebody tell me what going on? Is she in danger? Am I?"
"No. Nothing is going on. May I talk to her?"
"She's not exactly in the state to talk. She's medicated".

"May I hear her voice, atleast? I need to tell her brother, she is safe".

Rishabh reluctantly handed the phone to Madhubala and she immediately trashed into the nearest garbage bin.

"Don't listen to them. You are mine tonight", she led him out the hallways, down the staircases, and out into the parking lot, with the strength of ten men. When their car was within reach, she used the hood to pin his weight onto in it, and prop her legs on top of his hips, buckling up like lock and key.

To be continued...

Thank you for understanding!
It's from when RK and Madhu hated each other. It was like a few episodes after RK forcefully married Madhu. She made him say sorry to Padmini and he was all drunk and angry aha.

It seems there are more complexities to come with Madhu's disease as she can't even be admitted at hospital.
