Bollywood On Its Way To Create A 200 Crore Club?

Bollywood has a 100 crore fascination. Every film targets to surpass that coveted benchmark and it doesnt matter what the obsession is created with. More often than not, the films that make it to the list are gags driven more than content driven. However, the films never shy from being open about how desperate they are to join the 100 crore club!

With Chennai Express crossing 200 crores and Shah Rukh Khans statement that 100 crores isnt a big deal anymore, Bollywood now has a new 200 crore club that already has two films listed in it namely Aamir Khanstarrer 3 Idiots and Chennai Express!

With almost 22 entrants on the list of 100 crores, it is somehow not as glorious as it used to be. Becoming a more easy feat to attain, 200 crores is the new significant thing.

The Bollywood market growing at a fast pace, it is easy to cross 100 crores in a matter of weeks for films these days. With a strong budget, smart marketing strategies and heavy star value films these days are marking their incomes way higher than mere 100 crores.

Given the year has in store high budget films like Dhoom 3 and Krrish 3 which are adequately hyped, marketed and have a great chance of selling, there is a good chance of these films making their way into a 200 crore club soon it seems.

Moreover, January 2014 has bigger releases in store. Salman Khan will make a comeback on screen after a dry spell of more than a year, with Jai Ho and Akshay Kumars Thuppakki " the films might be the potential entrants into the 200 crore club too! Luckily Bollywood is not just a vernacular film industry anymore, it is business with high stakes and higher gains!
