Akbar waived off the pilgrim tax which were paid by the Hindus some months after he got married to Amer princess.

He went for hunting in Mathura and there he came to know about the tax. Though he did not believe that it is right to worship idols but still he waived off the tax on the ground of giving equal rights to all the people under his sovereign.

His Rajput relatives and his new wife might have a influence on him. But above all, it was his sense of justice and eagerness to win the trust of his people that led him to make such revolutionary decision.


I just hope Maiya does not show that Akbar removed the pilgrim tax only to win Jodha's heart so that he can break it later on !! 😲
