Right off the bat, this will be a long post but its been simmering for awhile and I think it will resonate with a lot of fans. I am commenting on Saras not Gautum, its a separation between the character and the actor who is doing an utterly amazing job and pretty much the reason why I watch the show... hence why I am always posting pics and to try to keep his exposure and visibility high to increasing his rank.
So that being said...
HOLY SMOKES I AM TIRED OF SARAS BEING CRAPPED ON BY EVERYONE IN THE DAMN SHOW!
Like really, enough is enough. The majority of the cast has crapped on him, thinks bad of him, and disrespected him. The villagers crapped on him, Kumud and her household crapped on him, his own father and step-mother crapped on him, Pramad craps on him, I am pretty sure even the pigeons in Vidyachaturs house crapped on him! He has been vilified and an outcast and pretty much other than Danny and Sunny (who are non-existent) doesn't have anybody in the world.
I understand that all that has happened to him has partly been his fault in some cases and obviously for story reasons its important to convey a sense that the whole world is against Saras but its gone on long enough, enough beating up on the guy, enough blaming him for everything, enough of him just sitting there like a chump and taking it.
A flawed male character that has to go through hardships, trials and tribulations to eventually become a strong man is a great story but you still need to have moments where he stands up for himself, isn't constantly apologizing, walking around like a whipped dog, sneaking around. The only thing that he has going for himself is his love for Kumud but this silliness of promising to see her happy even if she is with someone else is nauseating.
ITS TIME TO MAN UP! Firstly by getting off his butt and begin a track where he starts his own business/career and starts establishing himself so eventually he can look his father in the eye and say, now what, I made it without you. Its time for him to start the journey of proving himself to all the people that doubt him (rightly or wrongly).
Bring back the other characters, Laxminandan/Guman, Danny/Sunny and start winning the respect of Kumud, that's the eventual goal, his prize. Fans, male and female need to respect the male lead and for the last 2 months even I don't respect this timid Saras. I want the inherent stubbornness that he had where he faced off with his father in the beginning towards the new hotel, his stubbornness in making those pots no matter how hard, where he stood up to Guman for Kumud, even in the beginning his attitude with Kumud.
Yes so he is starting from scratch but I want to see him go through this evolution and find himself, his strength, his conviction, his damn balls and start being proactive, not just another victim crying about what happened, time to wipe the tears, and do something about it.
The CV's have emasculated him for long enough, I get it, it had to be done, but time to get his mojo back! Don't give up Kumud for some misguided need for sacrifice or penance, I know that's SLB's style of tragedy but the audience needs to believe in Saras again and look forward to how he gets Kumud back down the road. The book was a great starting point and it was a noble attempt to try following it but that ship has sailed, its already been deviated from so let the series grow in its own natural and organic way and not follow prescripted events.
LETS GET OUR SARASWATICHANDRA BACK!!
