When the show first started Ruqaiya was noble, fair, smart, ambitious, confident, and clever.Her relationship with Jalal was so precious. There are so many memorable scenes between her and Jalal. First one was in Episode 13 when Jalal enters the palace and Ruqaiya is on the terrace and theirs eyes meet. Not once did their eyes break eye contact and their smirks. 😊 The second scene is when Jalal asks her which of these three (friend, husband, and emperor) relationship do you want to be. She replied I want to be the girl for whom a friend loses his dil, a husband, his iman and a emperor, will bow his head in front of. The third scene was when she was trying to make him feel better after the whole Fareeda's pregnancy affair. She forgot about her own tears and thought about him. She never rubbed salt in his wounds. She was truly the first lady of the Mughal empire and she carried herself with so much dignity. I fell in love with the character.
Even when they changed the actress to play Ruqaiya, there were some differences in the character but overall the characteristics were the same. Ever since the Bairam Khans death, Ruqaiya's character is being changed around to suit the needs of CVs. Ever since then Ruqaiya became Ekta's Ruqaiya. The old Ruqaiya always treated him with respect and never called him Jalal whereas Ekta's Ruqaiya is always calling him by his name, loves to rub salt in his wounds, acts like a spoiled, selfish brat, and above all thinks herself to be clever but in reality is stupid. In conclusion, she is Ekta's Ruqaiya.
