In Defence Of Zoya

Before we start, this is a discussion post and not a bashing post.

We are discussing Zoya, the character and not the actress who plays it.

QH writers love to give us tracks that we can discuss, dissect, analyze and then bash!

So, Zoya is the latest punching bag for most of us. I have even heard people asking her to leave KV and statement like she is not fit to be Asads wife etc etc.

Zoya, as a character is a very passionate and loyal about two things in her life..

1. People she loves

2. Beliefs she holds

One can claim that in order to save the above, she can appear selfish or selfless (depends on your perspective) at times.

So, come what may, she will go all out to protect and save the people she loves and the beliefs she holds. No wonder, we saw her walk into Ayaans engagement with her iPad and installed cameras so that Asad could watch his brothers engagement. Yes, she was selfish as she wanted Asad to be happy but really didnt care about the consequences. We all remember the slap and humiliation she suffered. A lot of us said she deserved it. Really?

Because of her love for Asad, do we forget all the pain and attempts on her life she thwarted?

The Mariam case was a result of her beliefs and we all know what happened there.

Running away from her nikaah was also a result of her strong beliefs.

Now, we have this situation with Najma.

How has Zoya reacted here? Exactly as she would when someone she really loves and cares for is in dire need of help. Najma, as we all know cannot defend herself in most situations. Remember the hair incident? The boys at the college? Zoya helped her during those times, didnt she? Thats what she is doing right now.

As far as Zoya can see, Imran and Najma love each other a lot. She knows that Najma can sometimes be hesitant and not speak up in a situation. Thats why she has decided to be Najmas advocate. She doesnt know Nikhat at all. Does she have any idea how Nikhat felt about Imran? All she knows is that Nikhat broke the engagement, Imran doesnt love Nikhat and Nikhat is ready to move on. So, why wouldnt she defend Najma? How can she empathize with Nikhat when she doesnt even know how she feels? I am sure once she does, the tender hearted woman that she is, will change her stance on Nikhat.

Zoyas belief system believes in true love and the power of destiny. Here, she thinks Imran is Najmas true love and destiny has reunited the two lovers again. She was in a similar situation, just weeks ago. Of course, she will relate to Najma rather than Nikhat.

We, the audience are aware of Haseena bi and Imrans history- Zoya is not.

Knowing Zoya, once she finds out what kind of person mother and son are, do we think she will stay silent? Of course not! Let Tanveer come into the picture and Zoya Farooqui, the lioness will be back to protect her Najma from their biggest enemy.

Just like we gave Asad a break when his blind trust in Tanveer frustrated us, can we give Zoya a break from bashing?

Yes, she is being a bit immature and seeing the world with rose tinted glasses but can one blame her? She is in seventh heaven these days and now she is super thrilled that her best friend in India has also found true love. How else would one react in this situation?

Yes, I am also frustrated with her but she doesnt deserve to be bashed or banished from the Khan Khaandan.

Agree with you that zoe is very passionate about people she loves and her beliefs which is why i understand her stance in this. But i think most of this is also zoes immaturity. Zoe cares about najma and less about nikhat which i understandable cause she barely has a relationship with nikhat but what irritated me today, was after the showdown.. She said whatever to haseena bs, pushed about najma and imran instead of giving it some time, and was rather ignorant about nikhats feelings. From what angle did nikhat look okay? I thought of all people zoe would able to recognize hiding of emotions considering she did that through the tanveer fiasco..

I think zoe was being really immature. She has to realize that najma isnt asads only sister and she isnt just a bhabhi to one girl, but 3 because to asad all three of his sisters are really important. I expected a more from zoe i guess is what i mean. I get her stance but i just didnt like the immaturity presented by her and even najma.

But her not being good enough for asad? Thats bull in my pov.


Ps- zoe pushing all of this is going to bite her in her own butt later i know it. Certain.

She can support true love and Najma as much as she likes...but if Najma really is her "baby", she must find out more about Imran before accepting him with no questions asked. Remember that Najma is the girl who can't even stand up for herself when boys are teasing her..she is the most childish and sheltered in the Khan house (though good natured)..Zoya ought to think before she blindly trusts Najma's choice. And I certainly don't understand the extreme push for marriage..why the rush on Zoya's part!

I dont know what to say! U said it all.. Amazing post.. And even thought I'm a little disappointed with Zoya, I dont agree that she doesnt belong in KK and should leave KV.. We gave Asad an chance.. And now its Zoya's turn(like you said)..

Bheegs i think what will happen is so is pushig it right now and come wedding day shell find out tmaveer truth and will e against the marriage much to asad and najs dislike. But yh i think this immaturity is temporary and she will herself save naj.

Its just that she is beig really blind and expect her to find out everything about imran. She loves najma so much id expect her to make sure te guys suitable as well u know? Like pricesjojo said above.

Najma is too childish. Which is why i want her to get a rude awakening.

But uh idk who said zoes not good enough or se should leave thats just to much in my opinion.
