I never liked the character. But I think this was in real bad taste.

They promoted him even at the cost of butchering every other character on the show.

Now that he failed the TRP test, they have changed strategy and trying to woo back audience by lauching a massive PR onslaught mocking his exit. This is show biz, sab matlab ki baat hai.
