Islamic Extremism / Terrorism - biggest threat to world and Iran war
I have seen BV on and off from last one year. I used to like Anandi/Shiv story, but now am only watching for Jagya/Ganga story. Jagya is doing absolutely right. Even if he was not in love with Ganga, he took a responsibility of this girl. So he is fulfilling that by making sure that Ganga is comfortable in a new city and new environment. Sumitra is stopping Jagya having contact with Ganga not because of Ratan Singh, but because of her insecurities and jealousies of Ganga's place in Jagya's life. Her behavior will eventually make Jagya realize her true intentions in stopping him from having contact with Ganga. That would eventually free him because he is only doing all this to atone for his past behavior and Sumitra is taking advantage of that guilt.

Kools/Leavesandwaves,
I agree that Sumitra is no dukhiyari. I have not seen much of Gauri's episodes. But I can see why she would favor Anandi over Gauri too. Whatever Gauri was, she was blunt about who she was in front of Sumitra and rest of Jagya's family. Sumitra did not feel threatened of Anandi for two main reasons: Anandi was their choice and came to live with them while she was a child. So Sumitra had control over her and also developed mother type feelings for her. Secondly, Jagya until he changed never gave Anandi preference over say his mother. So there was no loss of control on Jagya as far as Anandi was concerned. However, Gauri had hold over Jagya and hence Gauri was a threat for Sumitra. Of course I am not saying that she did not have Anandi's interests at heart. But I feel if Gauri had acted like Sanchi, probably Sumitra would not have sided so much with Anandi. Now in case of Ganga, Jagya always have put her above everyone (in Sumitra's eyes) and she is not an ideal daughter in law - neither a virgin, nor from a well to do family and on top of that have a son by someone else. On top of that, everyone likes her despite knowing Sumitra's feelings about her. So of course, she feels insecure of Ganga. So Sumitra is not behaving contrary to her nature. She has a husband and a son who have their own principles and do not listen to her. So there is this deep insecurity and she feels threatened by Ganga. Since Ganga is so beholden to Singh family especially towards Jagya, Sumitra has taken advantage of it and used it to drive away Ganga. She gets no sympathy because she herself has a daughter who had a son from first husband and yet got married and accepted by the second husband and his family. So there are double standards at work here and nothing else.
