Deepika plays a free-spirited, sharp-tongued Gujarati in Ram Leela

So you thought Deepika Padukone has scored a hat-trick of whoppers this year with Race 2, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Chennai Express.

Let me inform readers , Deepika's best this year has yet to come. And the best, by far,is Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Ram Leela.

Having seen the rushes I can vouch for two things: the film will be a bigger hit than Bhansali's Devdas, and Deepika will effortlessly join the ranks of India's greatest acting talent after Ram Leela.

Yes, she is THAT good in the film.

Deepika's growth as an actor is not really surprising. She had it in her from the start. Whether dancing Helen-style in a dangerously low-cut skirt or blowing bubblegum into Shah Rukh's face, Om Shanti Om showcased Deepika incredible self-confidence.

Ironically Deepika's USP in her second film with Shah Rukh, her mouldable voice, was missing in her first film with him.

In Chennai Express she is being applauded for her outstanding spoof-Tamil diction. But when she made her debut in Om Shanti Om the director Farah Khan in all her wisdom decided to dub Deepika's voice.

Who knows why! Even Rani Mukherjee's voice was dubbed in her first few films.

Now Deepika doesn't need to bother with hurdles in the past. She already has three blockbusters to her credit this year.

And the fourth is around the corner. For various reasons Ram Leela would be a career-changing film for Deepika. For one, she will be seen completely losing her inhibition in front of the camera. Playing a free-spirited robust fearless and sharp-tongued Gujarati girl Deepika gets into the character with such casual conviction that you wonder if the role was written with her in mind.

Bhansali's films are written with some exceptionally lucid situations and dialogues for the heroine. Whether it was Manisha Koirala in Khamoshi: The Musical, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Hum...Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas and Guzaarish, Rani Mukherjee in Black or Madhuri Dixit in Devdas, every Sanjay Leela Bahnsali heroine is memorable for the way she looks,walks,talks and looks at the person she loves.

In Ram Leela it's easy to see why Deepika Fell in love with her co-star. The words that she exchanges with Ranveer Singh and the spiralling movement and momentum of the passion between the two could not possibly escape the two actors' hearts .

Ram Leela prompts one to fall in love with the emotion of love. And as the luscious Leela Deepika epitomizes love romance and passion. Yes, she has plenty of very passionate scenes with Ranveer. She digs into her character's emotions and impulses with the same ferocity as she digs her nails into her co-stars bare back.

Ram Leela will take Deepika's career to a dizzying high. She will not only sweep all the awards , she will also sweep all the competition under the carpet.

If she hasn't done that already.
