- She comes running to him like a genie in a lamp and demands a non-existent wishlist. He looks back at her with a naive innocent face - wishlist? I told you i have none. His life had no space for him to think of wishes and dreams. The genie still taps into his subconscious mind and says - think. You are human. You cannot be without wishes.
- His puzzled face breaks into a smile and like an innocent kid , he says his English teacher! The genie thinks this man, like any other boy must have been crushing on a Boston educated hottie. He proves her wrong by saying that he was not crushing on her. The teacher believed that nobody would ever crush on him, fall in love with him or marry him. The genie is touched by her man's innocence and the microscopic size of his wishes.
- His face lights up as he tells her that his wish is to go back to that teacher and tell her - Look! I may have been a vanilla man with no colourful trait or smile to recommend me, i may have carried winter on my face, but miracles do happen. Look at her - a pocketful of beautiful sunshine has fallen in love with me and she is going to marry me. ... He wants to be free of that subconscious insult that nobody would ever fall in love with him or marry him. The genie finds it beautiful but she does not understand the deep emotional viscosity behind it.
- He goes to that teacher's house with the genie , the love of his life - to tell her, that see- this stunning woman here with an even more stunning heart fell in love with me and she has promised to marry me. The teacher revisits Asad's odd and cold childhood that had no colours, jokes, laughter or even a faint smile - his hollowness and stunted emotional nurturing was perceived as snobbery and pride. It happens in real life too - just because people do not smile , they are perceived as snobs. And then, when he holds the genie's hand and interlocks with his - and tells the teacher that the non-existent snobbery has been healed by this genie's smile and warmth, the teacher's eyes fill up with tears - that little boy with a frog in his hand and a stonecold face has finally found the hand that fits the size of his hand and his heart. She blesses the two soulmates and embraces them.
This scene , if you understand its depth and essence , is so well-written and well-thought. It tells you how deep wounds run and how , healing , when found, fills your heart so much that even strangers cannot stand without shedding a tear.
I do not want to talk about rest of the episode. For me, this scene, was the show today. No offence intended.
