| There's a unique energy present on the sets of KBC. Before Shah Rukh makes his appearance, the crowd whistles, cheers and chants his name, beckoning their star to surface. A sneak peak backstage: He's getting his pronunciation and the lines right as Siddhartha Basu watches closely. SRK twists and turns the words until he gets them right.
Even as the chants get louder and reach SRK, he appears grateful for the support.
He walks in and makes sure to break the ice with the contestants with some personal chit chat. Hand -shakes and hugs follow until the contestant starts interacting with SRK. "Guys, I am looking hot, na?" SRK jokes, to which comes a prompt reply from a young girl, "Very hot!" and SRK blushes deeply.
He's been unwell, suffering from viral fever and cold. When asked which celebrity would he like to have on KBC, he says, "I feel that the best performers on the hot seat are the 'real people'. I would love to have more of them than any particular celebrity."
Shah Rukh calls it a challenge. he says, "It's tough to open the show with a new set of people each time, but I love it. I have uncomfortable moments, when I have to deal with people from different backgrounds, cultures and languages, but enjoy every bit of it." he says. "I get tense when a contestant is risking anything above Rs 3 lakh because that is big money," he adds.
He talks about reactions from his family fondly, "I suddenly find my family looking up to me after KBC. My son loves it, his school friend said to him, 'Hey man, your papa's got an awesome sense of humour and my daughter's teacher has given me an A plus. For the first time, my family has spent so much time on my sets. They are really enjoying this."
And what does Karan think about his performance, "Karan thinks I am as good an anchor as he is."
"I am an entertainer, the medium doesn't matter. I am good with people and I am glad that now I can give them a reason to smile. "
He summed it up right when he told one contestant, "I am a joker, a hero joker." |
