"Ayaz Ahmed is one of my best friends" – Nikita Sharma

TheTellyTimes was able to catch Nikita Sharma, currently portraying the role of Antara in Life OK's Do Dil Ek Jaan, for a quick conversation about her current role, her experience in the industry so far and her chemistry with her co-star Ayaz Ahmed

How did you bag the role of Antara in Life OK's Do Dil Ek Jaan?

I was staying in Mumbai and doing modelling. One day, I got a call from the coordinator for the role of Antara. I went and gave the audition, and in 1 day I got shortlisted, selected and signed the contract and within 4 days went to Srinagar and started shooting. For me, it's like a dream come true, working with Farooq Sheikh and Kishori Shahane, big names and big project. I am extremely thankful to Saurabh Tewari and Abhinav Shukla for giving me such a big project.

You are fairly new to the TV industry. How has your journey been?

I shifted to Mumbai last August and promptly started my career as model. Then I did a serial on Channel V called The Serial, where I did 3-4 episodes opposite Karan Kundra. Just after The Serial got over, I got the role of Antara. For me, everything has been really fast, just like a dream. I don't need to struggle much, because I am very hardworking and passionate about my work. I am only in Mumbai for work, I am not a party person and stay very stable and balanced in my life. I am very practical and stay focused on what I want in life, and that has helped me get this role.

How is the real Nikita Sharma in person? And how does she relate to Antara?

I am a very chulbuli girl from Delhi, who loved to talk, drive and eat. What is common between Antara and Nikita is that they love their family a lot and are very loyal to them, both are also responsible and independent. The difference between Antara and Nikita is the attire! I don't wear suits, and have never tried to wear suits in my normal life. In the upcoming episodes, we are doing a dance and so I am going to wear saree.I feel extremely lucky and blessed as I am doing what I really want to do in my life. Also, we were the first actors on Indian TV who shot in Kashmir for 40 days, so for me that is a big deal.

Raghu and Antara are shown as enemies in the show, who constantly fight with each other. How is the chemistry between you and Ayaz Ahmed off screen?

We are very good friends. Off screen, we come together on the sets, go back home together, and discuss our roles and scenes together. We are very good friends. In fact, I think right now he is one of my best friends in life.

What is your dressing style when you are not shooting?

I love wearing something casual or something which is very much in fashion. These days I love wearing casual, as I am shooting constantly. Normally I love to wear denim and a good T-shirt, or a white shirt. If I am going to a party, I need something very hot, very classy, with high heels and lots of make-up. I love to shop, and dress up and look glamorous all the time.

Thank you all, for loving us so much! This is my first show, and I have already got such a huge fan following and so much love. I truly feel so blessed. Just keep loving us and watching us!
