She made her big bad mark on the small screen as the conniving Kamolika on Star's Kasautii Zindagi Kay. Now, Urvashi Dholakia is playing the vamp again in Sony's Rishton Ki Dor. But she proudly says that it's not out of compulsion, rather, it's out of choice that she is playing a negative character yet again. "My character, Noinika, has a negative streak to her, but she's not downright evil like Kamolika. Noinika has a past and a reason to be heartless," says Urvashi. And this is the exact reason she doesn't feel stagnated as an actor. "As long as the character's got colourful shades to it, and a variety of emotions, even within the parameters of being negative, it's fine. Rishton… is different because I don't always have to make that one bitchy expression. I do bad things, but I do them in different ways," explains Urvashi, adding that as long as she's content as an actor, she won't mind playing the resident evil. The actor feels that as long as the negative character has a reason to be bad it can be justified. So what's the most challenging part about playing a villain? "A negative role gets interesting, and more difficult, when it involves 'good' emotions as well. It's more difficult to put sentiments like love and kindness into an antagonist's character. But at the same time, one must realise that the antagonist can also fall in love!" While her colleagues are hustling and bustling from one set to another, and one shift to another, doing show after show, why is it that Urvashi is doing limited number of roles? Is it a lack of good scripts or roles? "It's a deliberate decision to take things very slow. I'm occupied with other things right now," is all Urvashi is willing to reveal. Ask about her new-found glam look these days (she's been sported in sexy dresses at social events of late) and Urvashi laughs, "I'm a complete jeans and T-shirt person. And I like dresses, the only problem is I don't think I'm ladylike enough to carry them off well! But I like to experiment with my wardrobe when I go out." Looks like the actor is gonna be tough competition to other actors even without making any extra effort to look more glamourous.
