Honey, We're Pregnant!
"Hey,"
"Hey," he walked in placing the keys on the kitchen top proceeding to greet her with a kiss.
"How was work?"
"Work felt like... work? How was your day?"
"My day felt like a day," she mocked.
"Ha-Ha very funny, please Zoya try to be a little more original,"
But instead of continuing the argument of witty remarks, Zoya ended the conversation right there and eagerly waited for him to hand her his lunch box.
"Are you running a fever?" He anxiously felt her forehead.
"I'm fine! I think it's you who's losing his screws, anyways go change and then heat up the dinner, I'm going to go take a quick shower. It's been really hot today, I sweat like a pig and feel gross."
"I think I'm going to join you on that one," he shamelessly flirt with his wife.
"NO!" she almost shouted, "I mean, no, I'm not in the mood today. Why can't you just change and then heat up the dinner?" She tried not to sound pushy.
"Ok! Alright! Sheesh woman,"

He looked around the counter for dinner but failed to find any food. Zoya was still in the shower and he was getting hungry.
He decided to look through the fridge for something to snack on till she got back only find that the entire fridge was wiped empty except for a little plastic... bottle? A baby bottle with a sterilized nipple and all.
Inside it he found a note,
Fridge aapne khola, main jaanti hu kyun,
(Wah wah kahiye!)
Fridge aapne khola, main jaanti hu kyun,
Agar dinner chahiye, toh bedroom main milega next clue!
Ab yeh kiska bottle utha ke layi hai?
He trudged over to the bedroom to find no one in the shower. Finally.
"Zoya! Zoya! Love, I'm hungry can we just have dinner? I promise to go through with this scavenger hunt diligently afterwards," he asked out of desperation to find no response. Zoya was nowhere to be found.
He groaned as he searched the bedroom for "The Next Clue"
Under the pillows. No.
On the pillows. No.
INSIDE THE PILLOW COVERS? No.
On the nightstand. No.
In the drawers. No.
Finally, his last resort. Their wardrobe.
Shirts. No.
Blouses. No.
Pants. No.
Jeans. No.
Shoes. No.
He gave up and seated himself next to the cupboard as he accepted the fact that there would be no dinner tonight. And that was when he noticed, on top of his dress shoes and her heels, were tiny little... Baby Shoes?
Inside he found another note,
Aap bhooke bohot cute ho, like a baby's shoe,
(Wah wah! Wah wah! What? Someone has to if you're not going to.)
Aap bhooke bohot cute ho, like a baby's shoe,
Agle clue milega, aapka bathroom main aka the loo.
At this point our hunger driven Asad started getting into the game, as if it was field day at school.
But this time it was way too easy, he found the clue the moment he stepped inside... a soft little towel was hung on the towel rack instead of his. And of course attached to it was a note,
Aap bhooke ho, yeh humari nahi, kudrat ki khata hai,
(Wah wah! Wah wah!)
Aap bhooke ho, yeh humari nahi, kudrat ki khata hai,
Jaye aapke sofa pe, waha kagaz pe aapke khane ka pata hai
In front of the sofa, on his sleek coffee table he found a wrapped present. Upon opening, a card fell out along with another wrapped box. He picked up the card, it was handmade. He could tell by Zoya's irritatingly beautiful handwriting.
The card read,
Hi! My name is... Well I don't have a name yet. Anyways, I hope you liked my little scavenger hunt. I know you'll fill my bottle with your undying love, lead my footsteps in the right direction, and wash away my fatigue. I'm only 3 weeks and four days old yet my heart lets me know how much you already love me. You rock DAD! I love you.
Taken by surprise Asad anxiously unwrapped the little box that fell out with the card to find, he held back his tears, a positive pregnancy test.
He looked up to find Zoya filming the whole thing on camera, "You can cry if you want to," she whispered.
"Are you serious? You're--"
"No, I drew the smiley face on the test with crayon. Who jokes about these things Asad?"
"I'm sorry, I'm just... You're pregnant. We're having a BABY! A BABY! Allah miyan! You're PREGNANT!"
"Wrong, WE'RE pregnant. In my book, pregnancy isn't a condition, it's an experience, for the both of us," she turned off of the camera to make herself comfortable in his arms.
"We're pregnant," he repeated her words.
"By the way, here's dinner,"
"Baby food? Really?"
"Not really, I hid dinner in the oven. But seriously this stuff is good. I tried it myself."
"Well if you say so... Mommy," he kissed her blush away.

I trying keeping it real as opposed to the "he takes her in his arms and spins around screaming 'I'm going to be a dad!'" because that's not what happens in real life. There is always a moment of disbelief when you tell the guy. ALWAYS. I don't know why but there is. Maybe because it's too good to be true? I don't know. Don't ask me. I do not own a male brain.
Not my best quality work, I know.
Nevertheless I hope you liked it!
