He was always present..is always there and will forever be...
Never did i imagine that trivial , regular phrases like " Arrey yaar" , " Sunna" would become so important for me. He was a world in his own. A world where perfection was embedded in his imperfect mannerisms. He slung his satchel and ruffled his long locks with one hand. He whistled and tripped over untied colourful shoelaces. He took out infinite things from his pockets synonymous to Pandora's box! Secretly pulled out a kinder joy from the shop while shopping for his biwi guru with the list in his mouth. He even managed to fall with spill the goods on him while taking his chewing gum from the racks! He used a half-chewed gum as an adhesive and kissed his bike. He wrote important phone numbers on his work desk and had the most unique 'Dhinchak dhinchak' ringtone on his phone! The star reporter of Prabhat Leher. A person who was true to his name. He had the capacity of numerous star reporters when it came to crime reporting. But the same person danced with mannequins, sang Kishore Kumar songs with incorrect lyrics, jumped to start an elevator as he had seen it in a film, took out jam from the jar with his fingers and said random dialogues like 'teen se bhale do, do se bhala yek, chal bete laal dikhaade disco'. He got annoyed when his mother called him ' Monu' . Spoke to the kids, young and old in the same tone. He said 'hi' to God and ate prasad even before the puja. He punctured his own bike, created a false fire alarm, sprayed painkiller on his boss like he was killing bugs! All to protect his anmol Megha. He created an imaginary conversation between two handkerchiefs and fought with monkeyman, not to forget his filmy dream! He had ice cream like a kid and it melted all over his hands. He coined names like 'chavanni' and 'piddi'. He invented the new style to plait long hair ! And the list goes on and on.
Nanhi and her Spiderman shared a bond that was meant to last forever. Something beyond friendship and a normal father-daughter duo. They shared a completely special relation. The ring of a 'ghanti' called for their secret meetings on the terrace and discussing their problems and Nanhi being his dadima with the pink framed glasses. The meeting with the two pigtailed cute chavanni seemed to change his life and his appetite as he finished her tiffin. Every time he found her when she got lost like the true Spiderman and their bind grew stronger each day. From trying to convince her to forgive him by cutting the cable wire and dressing up as lovely singh to explaining 'bhaang' with his eyes and tongue and Nanhi imitating the same! They touched each other's chins and shared high fives. He was her Spiderman. The Spiderman who would help her in every situation just like he had promised, " Dekhle tu lekin main to tera saath nahi chodne wala." in the park. He wiped her tears all the times she cried.
Guru was his inner voice, an undying support who stood with him in his darkest hour and the brightest day. From the 'ma bapu' stories to ' subah ki chai' Guru never left him. Guru understood him even before he understood himself. Guru's tel malish, his being the ideal biwi and waiting for him " ki Bhaiya aap ghar kab aaoge ghar kab aaoge" like the aunties behind trucks and buses! :-D Guru was always there for him and he couldn't imagine a say without Guru. After all ' Mohan ka Guru ek hi hai'
Renu bhabi or laddoo wali aunty had always been special. He persuaded her to say ' I lubh ju ( i love you) ' to his bike before giving her a taste of jail after she forced herself on his bike and told him to take her to majnu gali. He gave her flying kisses and winked at her and she was right. No one other than the laphanga patrakar Bhatnagar can match up to her ' tashan' . No one else stood a chance! He even said ' i lubh you' to her husband Sanjay, pretending to be her!
Shrimati Mirchi Bhatnagar was his heart beat. He could do anything to capture the smile on her face. And he was the reason why she believed in having faith again. The new dawn of her life began with him. Their relationship cannot be demeaned to a string of words. Just a sentence is enough
MEGHA HAI TO MOHAN HAI AUR MOHAN HAI TO MEGHA HAI. Their hearts beat as one and they are inseparable.
12 years...a mishap...and he appeared again. The star reporter turned editor in chief of Awaaz India, founder of NAM foundation and creator of project talaash to search for his lost son, his Piddi. A true hero and a doting father to his Jaan, whom he pampered and spoilt but loved unconditionally inspite of her being his adopted daughter. Blood relations sometimes cannot be as strong as the relations from the heart. Wish piddi understood this. He fulfilled all her tantrums and even danced kathak with her. He braided her hair and his unique style if putting her to sleep, not with a lullaby but by saying 'one two three..shut your eyes'. She heard stories from him not fairytales but about her mother. He loved her very dearly.
He came across as a typical father of the bride, being over protective about his chavanni. A guiding light as sir ji for Beera, he even handed the responsibility of his chavanni to him. He suffered the difficulties of jail without complaining. He shared a special bond with jigri and jigri loved his 'Monu' as well and they both could read each other's feelings even without speaking a word.
The man who could do anything for seeing his family happy. The man who drilled into our hearts and made a permanent abode of love. We laughed and cried with him and felt his pain. A mere cliff can't take him away from us. Our bond is not so fragile
" ye vaada hai tumse ki ekdin tumhaare saamne aaunga main", he promised and he never breaks his promise.
Yes Mohan Bhatnagar will be back!
Wait and watch my friends! :-)
