Ek tha ladka, Ek thi ladki deewani

Aao sunaaoun pyaar ki ek kahani...
Ok, Its been a LONG time since I've posted an "analysis" of sorts, so this one is going to be LONG! But, I've worked hard all week to free up some time to do this, so I think I deserve it! :) And so, I present to you, My Mahabharat, on this Amar Prem Katha....Just bear with me...
Over the past 2 weeks, we have seen Dev's character change drastically. In the episode just before Kaajjal's birthday, we saw him trying to force himself to say away from her (Recall here, after Hottie calls him and invites him for the party, he says to himself "I'm sorry Kaajjal, mein chah kar bhi nahin aa sakta")...he was still afraid at this point, that if he got too close to her, he would hurt her somehow. And yesterday, we saw the same Dev seconds away from confessing his love.
Toh..."pyaar hua, chupke se..."...aur of course, Gannu Bhaiya ki madat se!
Hamare Dev Sir ne to teh karliya tha ke vo Kaaju ki Party mein nahin ja raha, lekin, Gannu Bhaiya ne sab kuch sambhal liya. Unhone Nayantara mom ko kisi tarha bataya ke Kaaju ki birthday party hai, aur phir, mom ne kuch aisa kaha, jo Dev ke dil ko chu gaya..."Kabhi kabhi, dusro ki khushi ke liye, kuch karne se khud ko khushi milti hai beta..."
And this leads us, to multiple long eye lock sessions, one after another...
The moment Dev walks into the venue, his eyes begin searching for his Kaju barfi - almost as if its an involuntary action. Suddenly, the lights go off, the spotlight is on, none other than the object of his affection, and instantly, their eyes are locked. They begin walking towards each other, never looking away, no matter who or what comes in the way...Kaajjal, longing so much to be near him, and Dev, unable to comprehend what it is that is pulling him towards her...until at last, they're standing a foot apart....and here too, Dev is telling himself he has to stay away from her, has to stop himself from going near her...
Then, Dhruv asks Devu to wish Kaju a happy birthday. And Devu, quite coldly, says "no"...and the look on Kaju's face was PRICELESS! Surveen did an amazing job here. She couldn't believe he had the nerve to say "no"...and then, with his next words, her shock turns into sheer pleasure..."mein kisiko khali haath, birthday wish nahi karta....(produces a gift)...Happy Birthday Kaajjal". Mr. Dev Pratap Singh, unki Kaju Barfi ke liye GIFT le kar aaye....agar usse door hi rehna tha, to gift kis liye? He's unable to stop himself...he's doing it all somewhat unconciously...Ek pal mein kehta hai mujhe Kaajjal se door rehna hai, aur dusre hi pal mein, usse gift deta hai! Vah Mr. DPS, aap ka to koi javaab hi nahin! Kya andaaz hai!
*Must mention a scene here: Dev and Dhruv's Dadi are talking, and Dadi says "main hamesha yehi prarthna karungi ke uski zindagi mein hamesha sift khushiya ho"...and what does our Devu think of? - The day in the hospital, when he prayed to Gannu Bhaiya for Kaju's life...*so touching*...
And next, our Kaju decides she must thank her rajkumar for her wonderful party, so, she waits until the perfect time, when they can be alone, away from the noise, jahan koi unke eye lock session ko tod na paaye...
Kaajjal slowly walks toward her rajkumar, so lost in his eyes, that she fails to realize he's lost her dupatta. And our "must keep myself away" rajkumar, can't stop himself from looking at her, from head to toe, taking in her beauty, contemplating it. Before, slowly, bringing himself back to reality and saying, ever so hesitantly: "tum...tumhara...du-pa-tta..." Apu was just brilliant here! I wanted to pinch his cheeks! But as if that wasn't cute enough, he helps her recover the dupatta (note intense eye lock session here), and then, keeping his eyes downcast, sharmofying like a girl, he slowly hands it back to her, saying, once again: "ye...du-pa-tta"...If I wanted to pinch his cheeks before, this scene just made me want to run and hug him for being so cute! No one could have executed that scene so well as Apu did! It was perfect! No overacting, just sweet, simplicity! Kudos to the directors and producers here!
One thing that perplexed me about this epi though, was that when Abhijeet said the song was from the guy that wanted to say so much to kaajjal, but was unable to say it....Kaajjal thought it was her Dev sir, and the two turned and looked at one another...but, Dev knew it wasn't from him, yet, he didn't wonder who it could be from....hmmmm....(am I reading too into this?)
Lekin is pal se, hamara Devu samajh ne laga tha, ke vo Kaajjal se door nahi reh sakta...kyounki for the rest of the night, uski nazar Kaajjal ke upar se nahi hati...😳
And the next episode, brings with it, a dream come true for all DK fans...their first, REAL, Dance! And what happens? They dance away into a land of their own, of course! This dream sequence dance was so passionate...I couldn't praise it enough! Apu and Surveen set the screen ablaze! They have such wonderful chemistry! Dev slowly places Kaju's hands on his shoulders, and then, wraps his own fingers around her waist, and possesively pulls her closer to himself, and they're lost, in a sea of their own, overflowing passion and love for one another...it was magical....(Woah! Lagta hai Hema ji ka asar kuch zyada hi pad gaya hai mujhpe!)
Aur next day, Our Devu Shows up at her house with a Bouquet of ROSES!!! (Note: again, I think this was all involuntary - he just can't stop himself...or help himself!) First of all, I have to mention how HILLARIOUS the initial scene was when Kaju dumps water on him! Their expressions were PRICELESS! And then Kaju was so shocked, and so worried, that she tried to explain, but couldn't b/c she was stumbling over her own words...and what does our Devu do? Instead of getting upset, quietly, matter-of-factly, says, "Good...Morning." 😆 He was sooooo cute!!!! And the way he ran his hand through his hair to fix it...hehehe! APU YOU ARE JUST TOO ADORABLE!!!! Bechara kitni tayari karke aaya hoga ke vo Kaju se kya keh kar phool dega, lekin the incident caught him so off gaurd, that he was utterly confused as to where to go from there! It was so cute! He was utterly taken aback, aur bechare ki sari tayari pe pani phel gaya!
And then, we broke new ground with Dev...Mr. Dev Pratap Singh admitted to himself, his feelings for Kaju!!!! I was on cloud nine, ready to SCREAM in excitement!!!!! It was such an important moment for this prem kahani...a ground breaking episode indeed!!! I was ready to hug him for finally telling his "ateet" to shut up (essentially) so that he could move forward! In the exact words of Mr. Dev Pratap Singh: "Mein kyoun apne aur Kaajjal ke ehsaas ko daba kar, usse takleef pahauncha raha houn? Mein Kaajjal ko takleef nahin, khushiya dena chahta houn...mujhe mere aateet ko bhula kar, ab aage bhadna chahiye..." It was SO perfect! The moment we've all been waiting for! A confession from Dev! His acceptance of the fact that He felt something for Kaajjal, that she was his future!
And from this moment, we saw a drastic change in Devu! He Let Her Dry His Hair!!!!!!!!!!!! The old Dev would never have done that! (And what a wonderful scene it was!!! 😳😳😳)
Also, he began to laugh at her mistakes instead of getting upset (kyounki ab to usse door bhagane ka koi matlab hi nahin tha!) - and what a Beautiful laugh it was!!! It was So cute!! Lekin poor Dev - vo to sochta tha ki uski Kaju ko ghar ke saare kaam aate hai, kitna galat sochta tha vo! 😆 But ye bhi acha hai, is tarha Kaju hamesha sare kaam galat kare gi, aur is bahane, Dev ko hasne ka mauka mil jaayega! Actually, iske baad to shayad Kaju jaan bujke kaam galat karegi - vo apne Dev sir ke chehre pe hamesha muskurahat dekhna chahti hai na, is liye...aur isse so "smile" cards ka kharcha bhi kam ho jaayega! 😆
Aur jab he admits to Dhruv his feelings for Kaju! He was so cute! Kitna sharma raha tha baat batane mein!!!
And then, the Ma-Beta scene of the week! Jab mom ne usse kaha ke beta tum in kapdo mein bahut ache lag rahe ho (WHICH HE WAS...LOOKING VERY HANDSOME!!!! 😳), vo phirse sharma jaata hai! He's on cloud nine knowing that the clothes are looking good on him...pehli baat to ye thi, ke kaju ne usko kapde diye the pehenne ke liye...aur dusri, ke his mom afirmed that Kaju wasn't saying that he looked good in the clothes just to say that...a second opinion confirmed it for him - meaning that she had actually given him a compliment on how he looked! This was such a cute scene!!! And how he almost told his mom that Kaju dumped water all over him! Hamara Devu pyaar mein pighal raha hai....the wall he has created around his heart, is finally broken down.
Aur us taraf, hamari Kaju barfi ka bhi kuch yehi haal hai! She's on cloud nine because her Dev Sir brought her flowers!! But, it was SO cute when Hottie started talking so loudly about it, and she said "ssshh!!! bahar papa aur bua ji baithe hai!" She was actually afraid they'd hear!! Kaju is such a cutie!
Aur phir, plans for Lodhi.....
BUT, I will continue with that in Part two....It took me 3 hours just to type this much....I need to get away for a while! Sorry its so lengthy, but I had a lot of ground to cover! :) And as you can probably guess, there is much more to come!
