Love & Khushi...
November 12th 2009 ' Delhi'
Sitting beside the fire in his living room, he closed his eyes in frustration and laid his head back on the leather couch. He rubbed his temples and scrunched his face in annoyance at the painful migraine he was having.
Opening his eyes at the sound of a soft throat clearing, he looked behind to see her'holding two steaming cups of coffee. He looked at her and smiled and patted the floor, signaling her to come sit beside him.
Walking over to him, she sat down and let him place his head on her lap while she ran her hands through his silky, soft brown locks.
"Why does this always happen to me Khushi...?" he asked, his husky voice filled with pain.
Khushi cringed at the thought of him suffering and whispered "Arnav..if you love her, then you have to tell her'"
"She doesn't love me Khushi'" he said with a broken voice.
"Arnav...I don't know about you, but I've seen the way she looks at you'I know for a fact that she loves you so much. But, you can't expect her to wait around for you forever'you have to tell her'" said Khushi, finding it difficult to control her pained emotions.
"But Khushi, she's getting married in two days'" whispered Arnav.
"So what? You love her, she loves you, and you still have 48 hours..go Arnav, take a risk in life for once..you never know what awaits you.."
"Should I'?"
Nodding at his question, she watched him slowly stand up, his eyes finally lighting up. He looked down at her and said "Thank you'"
She smiled up at him, her eyes reflecting the pain she absorbed off him and whispered "Don't thank me Arnav..now stop wasting time and go to her'"
He nodded, grabbed his car keys and walked out the room,not realizing the fact that he was leaving behind someone who had given her life to him.
She sat there, blinded by her thoughts, her eyes moistened, and finally letting go of the tears which were held back for years.
She didn't realize when a pair of warm arms held her close, letting her pain wash away. She looked up and mumbled "Di'?"
Anjali looked down at the girl breaking down in her arms. She didn't understand how one can be some giving. In this case, sacrificing her love for another woman.
"Why Khushi'?"
"He loves her Di'she loves him, who am I to come between them'?"
"One day'I promise you'he will realize who he truly loves..." vowed Anjali.
Khushi laid her head against Anjali's chest and let her tears soak her clothes. She was happy for him, that he got his love but what about her'? What was she going to do now that her only friend and true love was going to be someone else's...?"

November 15th 2009 ' Delhi'
"Khushi..! Khushi..?!" yelled out Arnav. He pushed his way through the crowd, scrunching his eyes to look for her.
The airport was crowded with people saying goodbye to their loved ones, family, children. Arnav yearned to see Khushi. His best friend, his rock...his everything...Where was she'?
Just then he felt a soft hand on his shoulder, smiling at the thought of it being Khushi, he turned around only to see Meera, his fianc, smiling up at him.
A sudden sense of disappointment invaded in his mind. It was the feeling of yearning for something and coming close to it but not fully achieving it.
He nodded at her but continued looking around.
"Arnav...relax, she must be around somewhere..why are you so worried anyway..?" asked Meera looking at a tense Arnav.
"Why am I so worried'? My best friend is leaving me, to go to London, back home, and she didn't even tell me...what am I supposed to do without her'?" he asked, evident pain crossing his face.
Meera looked at him in shock. Here was the same guy who convinced her and everybody else of how much he loved her and that he wanted to spend his life with her and here he was, literally going ballistic about not finding his friend'?
Curiosity engulfed her mind, Who was this Khushi'?
Arnav suddenly felt as if time stopped. It was the same feeling he felt every time Khushi was around. He smiled in relief and turned around quickly.
Meera looked at him in confusion and followed his gaze. She saw a beautiful girl in a white dress and a brown leather cardigan tie up her blue scarf around her neck. Meera figured out that she must be Khushi. She was pretty but why was she so special to Arnav'?
"Khushi!" yelled out Arnav.
Khushi turned in confusion and looked at a panicking Arnav in shock. She grabbed her bag and slowly walked towards him. What the hell was he doing here'? And how did he find out'?
"Arnav...?" she whispered, but before she could finish, she was engulfed into a bone crushing hug by him.
She wrapped her arms around him and rubbed his tense back. She smiled but then soon saw Meera looking at them, hurt clearly evident in her eyes.
Breaking apart from the hug, she looked at Arnav who was looking at her in pure anger.
"What the hell do you think you're doing huh Khushi'?" he said, clearly pissed off.
"Arnav...I just..I have to go back home...I miss Mom and Dad'" she whispered.
"So why the f*** didn't you just tell me then'? Don't ever, ever do that to me again'! How do you think I supposed to live without you'?" he asked.
Khushi smiled painfully.
Just then, she felt the world shake around her as she watched Meera come forward and loop her hand around Arnav's arm.
"Hi..I'm Meera...Arnav's fiance..."
"Yes..I know...hi, I'm Khushi...Arnav's..friend.."
"What do you mean you just my friend'? Meera, this is here is the only person in my life whom I trust more than myself, she's my world'"
Meera looked as if she had just been slapped. Loosening her hold on Arnav's arm, she smiled painfully while looking at Khushi who was trying not to break down.
Hearing the announcement of the flight gates opening, Khushi smiled at Arnav and said "Goodbye Arnav...till we meet again'"
Arnav swallowed harshly and pulled her back into a hug. "Why won't you stay for my wedding...how can I get married without you Khushi'? I don't'..I don't know what to do anymore.."
"Hey...sssh..Arnav everything's gonna be alright..you're going to get married, you're going to start a family and you're going to live happily ever after..understood'? Now just let me go Arnav...You need to live without me..."
Breaking apart from the hug, Khushi took her luggage, turning around once more to wave at him while walking back in.
Arnav opened his closed fist; Khushi had placed something in there before she left.
Smiling at the thin, intricately woven chain with the letter 'A' and 'K' engraved onto the pendant, he pressed it close to his heart and pinned it around his neck.
Meera walked hand in hand with Arnav still in shock after witnessing that painful goodbye. Was she doing the right thing'? Was she unknowingly coming in between two people who were meant to be together'?
She decided that for once in her life, she was going to be selfish. She pressed herself closer to Arnav side and placed a kiss onto his shoulder.
Driving back home, Arnav felt as if a major part in his life had just been taken away. Why did it feel so wrong'? Why was it so painful..his life right now was just so empty...
He needed her...He needed Khushi...
