It was past mid night and a beautiful angel was sleeping peacefully hugging her teddy bear. But her beauty sleep got disturbed as she heard her phone buzz. She cursed the person who was calling her at about 2 am. But when she saw the name of the person who was calling her she jerked up from her the bed and immediately a frown crossed her face. It was her best friend Swayam shekhawat. She immediately understood that something is wrong with him or otherwise he wouldn't have called her at this hour of night.
"Hello sammy" she said with concern in her voice.
"Sharry she.." his voice was choking and she could understand that he was trying to fight his sob.
"What happened Sammy, please tell me" she asked worried.
"She broke up with me." He whispered. At that moment she felt like jumping though her heart ache for her best friend's pain. A part of her was super happy as she was in love with her best friend from when she doesn't even remember. Another part of her felt awful because her friend was in pain. She knew how much he loved her. Radhika Chauhan.
Sharon always knew she was not the right girl for Swayam. She was a big time flirt and somewhere she knew that Radhika was using Swayam. But when she saw the love in Swayam's eyes for her, the happiness, she kept quiet. She didn't want to hurt him as she couldn't see him hurt. But today her best friend, her love is going through pain. She has hurt her love immensely.
"I am coming Sammy, just in few minutes." She said and jumped down from her bed. She didn't even change from her night dress. She couldn't keep him waiting. She knew he needs her right now.
She reached his house and instead of knocking she took the spare key from under the welcome mat. She knew if Mr. and Mrs. Shekhawat got up they will get worried for him.
She was like a family to them, they were to her. She knew every corner of this house so it didn't take much effort for her to reach Swayam's room upstairs in darkness. When she opened the door her heart broke into thousand pieces. He was looking pale and there were rings around his eyes. For Swayam she was the only person in front of whom he used to show emotions and the real him. For the world he was the strong and macho Swayam but only for Sharon he was the real him. When he saw her, he ran into her arms. She started to rub her hands soothingly at his back. She couldn't see him like this. The part of her heart which was happy started to regret its happiness. She felt more than her happiness, Swayam's happiness was important for her. She cursed Radhika for hurting him like this.
"How all these happened Sammy? She whispered to him.
He clinged more into her and said in a choking voice. "She called me around 1 and she said she wants to break up with me. When I asked why she said that I spend most of the time with you and I don't have time for her." he sobbed. She was shocked. She broke up with him cause of her? She was the reason behind his pain! He continued "I don't know what has got into her. I tried to make her understand that you are my best friend, and there is a difference between friendship and love. But she wasn't ready to listen. You tell me Sharry I hang out with you that doesn't mean na I love you or something. I love her. But she didn't understand that. She doesn't trust me." His unknown rejection made her hurt ache but she dusted off her pain, her feelings and tried to soothe him. She took him to the bed and made him lay down on her lap and started to caress his forehead, cheeks and after few minutes he fell asleep.
But what about her pain, the pain she got from his unknown rejection. She couldn't take that pain either. Yes she was unable to see him in pain but she has feelings for him. She can't deny it. She can't wipe it out. She feels hurt when she sees him with Radhika and now his unknown rejection broke her broken her even more. She checked whether he was sleeping deeply or not. As she found out he was sleeping deeply she replaced her lap with a pillow and covered him with a quilt and went back to her house. She didn't know what to do, for which pain to cry. For Swayam's pain or for hers? She was numb. She knew though he is single now but still he will never love her. Love her in a romantically way. She is his best friend and nothing more than that and Radhika..She is and will be his first and last love. She knew she broke up with him cause of her. He is in pain cause of her. But how can she become the reason for his pain? For his loss? She can't. She herself was in pain for his unknown rejection but that doesn't matter to her. She will make him happy. She will make everything correct. Radhika can't hurt him cause of her. She texted Radhika that she wants to meet her the next day early in the morning in college.
It was 7 in the morning and both Sharon and Radhika were sitting in the cafeteria and there was an awkward silence between them. Sharon cleared her throat and broke the silence by asking her
"What is the problem? Why you broke up with him?
"How does it matter to you?" she asked amused.
"It does." She yelled. Then she realized she is here to make everything right, not to screw everything up. She took a deep breath. "See Radhika he loves you a lot and loves only you. Please don't do this to him."
"Look who is talking." She said in a sarcastic manner. "Listen we broke up because of you. The only reason behind our break up is you." she yelled.
Sharon sighed. "What I will have to do to make everything fine between you two?" she asked hopefully that yes she can make things right between them.
"Really now? The one who destroyed everything is telling me she wants to make everything right?"
"Listen Radhika I really don't know why you have a problem with me and I really don't understand how I became the reason behind your break up but.."
Sharon was cut off as Radhika yelled. "Really you don't know? Of 24 hours Swayam stays with you mostly all the time. He.."
Now she cut her off "that's because we are best friends from childhood and you know what? You should trust him. You should trust that whatever happens he loves you and will always do."
"But will you let him?" she asked sternly.
"What do you mean?" Sharon asked totally confused.
"Now don't pretend that you don't love him and you don't want him to love you!"
Sharon was shocked. Yes she loved him but she never wanted him against his own wishes. She knew it very well that Radhika is his first and last love. He will never love her. Yes it was her dream that Swayam will one day love her back but she never ever tried to create any problem between them.
"Yes Radhika I do love him, that's true. But I never wanted him against his wishes. And how could you think that I will want to him to snatch away from you? I know he loves you and only you."
"You have always done that. You always tried to snatch him from me." She yelled.
"No I didn't." she yelled back. "For me his happiness is more important than mine. I will never do such thing which will hurt him. And if you always had a problem with me why didn't you come to me to talk before breaking his heart?"
"Wow Jodi made in the heaven." She said dreamily. Then she yelled. "Just shut up you bi*ch. I know what you want. You want to show that you an angel and.."
That's was it. Sharon couldn't take it anymore. This girl was going on blaming her for those things which she never did, she never can think of doing. She really couldn't take it.
"What do you think Radhika that you are an angel? Are you really an angel? You are accusing Sammy for spending time with his 'best friend' but what do you do? Those flirting with other boys? What's all that? Do you have anything to say about it?" she asked her sternly.
She was quiet. But she was a great game player. She composed herself and smirked. "You love him right? And you want him to be always happy? So let's make a deal. I will leave all those flirting and all. I will always be with him and make him happy but only if you promise me you will go away from his life."
Sharon felt everything is spinning around her. How will she live without Swayam? She has been with him from the time they were born. And now she is saying her to leave from his life. She felt her vision were getting blur. But all that didn't matter. She knew deep down that it is her game. But she just wanted Swayam to be happy and smile and for that she can do anything.
"Deal I will leave from his life. Always keep him happy." She said choking.
