Chand Raat Mubarak…Epi July 17, 2013
First of all, I would like to thank 4Lions for finally giving us a glimpse into such an important part of the Muslim tradition and religion. Even though, I have heard the terms 'chand raat,' 'Ramzaan' before, as a non-Muslim, I was never clear about the significance of these terms and why they are celebrated.
Thanks to Rajni's character, we all got a 101 on why Ramzaan is celebrated and why people fast during this holy month.
Ghafoor explained the significance of 'rozas' very well- a cleansing of the body, mind and soul so one can get closer to Allah.
The sighting of the chand in today's episode also signifies the beginning of the cleansing period in the show. We can all take a sigh of relief as the two biggest contaminants, Razia and Tanveer will not be able to spread their trash and garbage for too long.
Rashid and Rajni will be the key players in unveiling Razia's evil act of hiding badi b and hopefully, the Khan family as a whole will cleanse the parasite called Tanveer from their system and lives.
Of course, the bigger crime- the Gudiya factory unveil won't happen for a while but at least some of Razia's evil doing will be out in the open. I am curious to see how Ghafoor will react to this reveal? It seems he is a deeply religious man and honors the religious code of Ramzaan. Will he reprimand Razia for her evil deed or will he cow under pressure and hide behind Razia's dupatta again?
The fact that Asad announced his nikaah with Tanveer for next jumma, just goes to show that Tanveer's reveal is around the corner. How long will this week be? Hope it's not stretched like the 10 day challenge. After all KSG has to go on vacation also J
My favorite scenes:
- Dilshaad and Asad scene: Zoya ko maine bahu maana hai, aura b wo taa umr is ghar mein meri beti ki tarah rahegi.
Of course, this will make for a very dysfunctional living arrangement but just shows the strength of Dilshaad's character. What will her reaction be when she finds out that Tanveer is pregnant? Or will Asad keep it hidden from everyone?
- Chand Raat scenes: Dilshaad, the large hearted woman that she is (mirror image of Zoya), despite her anger towards Asad and Tanveer, still came forward and wished them 'chand raat Mubarak ho.'
To my surprise, Ghafoor has not made a big fuss about Humeira having Hindu beliefs. That shows that he is open to differences as long as he loves that person. Does that mean he will also accept Zoya once he is past the initial hurdles?
- Ayaan-Rajni scene. How cute are they? Ayaan is slowly falling for this feisty Hindu girl. As Pri mentioned on one of her posts, it would be an irony if he fell in love with Rajni but she went back to Humeira as soon as he realized his feelings? Talk about unrequited love.
- Favorite scene: Asad and Zoya's invisible hand holding scene. Both looked great and emoted very well today. I was most impressed with Zoya's expressions. She is doing a great job with her expressions of a woman who has been hurt in love.
Symbolism in that scene: Asad retracted his hand first (he refused marriage with Zoya) but later Zoya retracted her hand too (will she refuse marriage once Tanu is revealed, perhaps because of her mission-abbu?)
"Main aapke laayak nahin hoon." That broke her heart into million pieces today. Well, Mr.Khan, Zoya is used to getting hurt. She has survived burial, fires, cliffs, immuring, etc etc. She will shed a few tears but then move on as she has a big task ahead of her- save you from Tanveer! You have always been worthy of her just as she is worthy of you…just need to have the stars aligned in your favor.
