Qubool Hai on Zee seems have had made an impact even outside India. I was surprised to hear of this...last Friday when I met up with my friends after a long, long time...
What surprised me the most was that after the Tanveer-rape-Asad track and the way the whole episode went, most the kids 18 and below were forbidden to watch Qubool Hai. Then after the mahasangam most of then cancelled the Zee Tv subscription or added a parental lock to the Zee channel.
I was quite taken aback with these drastic actions. So I asked for the reason why such drastic actions. The reasons were as mentioned below.
- Zee Tv does not have that many shows that are captivating enough to continue payng for the channel.
- Qubool Hai did captivate the viewers, they were also ok but not comfortable with Tanveer-rape-Asad track, the 1 month leap, but what they could not handle was violence and the way the situation was handled for the sake of bringing in a twist. People got so involved in the show that some of the youths and some of the viewers who are Karan and Surbhi's fans were going into depression. Then during the mahasangam in the PV track with the virginity test concept... I guess quite a lot of viewers got quite disgusted with it... (Does this really happen in real life in parts of India?... a genuine curious question from my side)
- Qubool Hai which started out showing how to deal with different kinds of relationships turned to showing disrespect for mothers, elderly, betrayal of friends in the lowest of forms and the worst part is the violence that is being introduced without any connection to the storyline...
- The Zee channel has become depressing...so after a hard day's work...nobody wants to sit through shows that are depressing.
- In the earlier tracks of Qubool Hai, there was violence, yes, but it was balanced out with positiveness too (Asad-Zoya) track... Ayaan-Humeira/Rajini track is not as effective as a balm to the audience as Asad and Zoya was.
What most of them didn't like was the character assassination of the Khan family.
Asad - all loved Asad's character (his flaws and all), they also like the track of his realization of his love for Zoya. Even though none of them liked Asad's trust in Tanveer, they do understand that Asad lost his will to function after Zoya left. And there's a big BUT that this could have been portrayed differently with twists that were more realistic. What they were looking for is Asad after seeing Zoya and confessing his love for her... fight for his love as in his prayer to God. The message is that God shows us the path (may not be easy) but we have to do our bit too.
Dilshad - was shown as a woman who perceived more than what was being shown, but that was not handled very well too.
When I started watching QH (my very first Indian serial), I must say I was quite pleasantly surprised. (Sorry to state this, I never had a very high opinion about our Indian writers and our shows...too OTT dramatics, or acting) The earlier shows were quite well done to portray the essence of what I guess I understood about QH (all about relationships). Sure it was filmy at places, sure quite a few scenes were copied from other shows / movies...but the copying was done well. Karan and Surbhi did an excellent job of stamping their own stamp on the copied tracks...
I do agree that things could have been done differently...
Lets take some examples...
[1] the flying chaddar... I strongly believe in act of God/hands of God/ prayers being answered maybe not in the way we want it... What could have been done differently here. When Asad felt Zoya's presence when she shouted out "I love you Mr. Khan", they should have shown Asad walking towards the cliff with the chaddar in his hands without him realizing it. There should have been a pole or a stump of a rotten branch sticking out of the ground. Tanveer could have met Asad on her way down the cliff...which could have been used in the later part of the track when Tanveer is being exposed... So when the chaddar is blown out of Asad's hand, it is more realistic as he nearby and then the chaddar would have got caught on the tree stump or the pole as support for Zoya to climb up... More realistic...
[2] Friday's episode could have split into two parts (2 day episode instead of the rushed track into 1 day).
Episode A
They could have shown the reunion between Dilshad, Najma and Zoya...yet kept a suspense on what was spoken about or shared between Dilshad and Zoya.
Tanveer has got out of the car to rest on her way back but Asad continues on...showing Asad does not care and when Asad reaches the Khan villa(at night), he prays his prayer as was shown but the place is not decorated as yet. Asad does not know Zoya is back...nor does Dilshad, Najma or Zoya know that Asad is back...
Asad sees Zoya sitting in the garden... thinks its a dream...shuts his eyes... and when he opens...Zoya isn't there...
The next morning Asad sees Zoya at the dining table...thinks its a dream... walks towards Zoya and says "Zoya", scared to believe yet hoping and is startled when Zoya talks... Then his face breaks into a huge smile... Sits through the entire breakfast just watching her much to the amusement of Dilshad and Najma...
Then the emotional scene why Zoya came back...till the scene where Asad to agree on the nikaah. The scene freezes on Najma, Dilshad and Zoya's tense face.
EPISODE B
The precap on the conversation between Zoya and Asad... and then continuation on the Asad confirming the nikaah.
The place is decorated.
Tanveer rings the bell... Najma opens the door. Tanveer surprised to see Najma dressed up and the place all decorated... Asks what is happening.. Najma says Bhaijaan ka nikaah... Tanveer happily runs in and asks with him... Then Najma points out to Zoya walking in with Dilshad... Tanveer shocked... Dilshad watches Tanveer.. Then the dialogue of khana stuff... Zoya and Tanveer talk...
The next scene...
Tanveer and Asad scene in Asad's room and the booties drop... The screen freezes on Asad's tense face... The precap as what was shown (Asad walking to Zoya and taking her by her hand)
This would have been more realistic...more like the old QH... with a more logical and realistic thinking
Instead the Friday episode looked too rushed for a wedding... Looked the Dilshad, Zoya, Najma were sitting around waiting for Asad to walk in... and boom the wedding...
Curious, are other viewers, especially the youth now having problems with their parents about watching the show QH? Are people disillusioned about the show?
P.S. Personally I feel, the track is getting interesting based on the spoilers that have been leaked but kind of losing faith in the capability of the CVs to keep it logical and believable... The editing is quite bad these days... like patchwork
