Here's an exclusive interview with our very own Jennifer Winget Grover whom very kindly took the time out of her busy schedule to Jennifer-Winget.net'Read on
First of all, Saraswatichandra just completed 100 episodes. How does it feel?
You know it doesn't even feel like 100 episodes. It still feels like the beginning, time has just flown past.
There are very few celebrities who would be ok with fans having their personal numbers. Being the private person you are, does it ever bother you?
You know, actors work to achieve that recognition so they receive that love and feedback from fans. Once you get it, you can't suddenly say 'Oh I don't want it' because this is what we have worked for. Feedback from fans help because we can see what has been appreciated and what they haven't liked. Plus these messages are so sweet, I wouldn't have the heart to tell them to stop messaging. I couldn't watch the initial episodes so I didn't actually know what was happening so when my fans would send me their feedback, I'd be like 'O acha, iss episode mein yeh hua tha' etc. How can you say no to adulation when you've worked so hard to achieve it?
Whats the biggest high you have felt as an actress?
The biggest high as an actress'Hmm (thinks). I love doing emotional scenes because I am an emotional person in real life so it feels really good when people on the sets become effected by my performance . Either they don't know what to say even after the scene is over or they clap or they comment on how they really felt what Kumud was going through. That means more to me than any TRPs or awards. In fact, I got such appreciation in a recent scene (referring to the phone call scene). I don't think an actor can get a bigger high than being appreciated like that.
While acting do you ever try to parallel your characters situation to real life situations you've been in? How do you approach your scenes? What goes through your mind?
I'm not a method actor, I go in to a scene and try to feel the scene on the spot. There are times when I can completely connect to a scene and there are times where I cannot connect at all. Like I said, I love doing emotional scenes the most so I try to go in to the scene spontaneously.
What would you do in Kumud's situation?
What would Jennifer do? I'd go to Dubai and ask Saras 'What the frik is up with you man?' (laughs). Just because your Dad cheated your mum, doesn't mean you can break off the marriage. Of course, Kumud doesn't actually know what has happened but as Jennifer I would try to sort it out.
Anything characteristic you can relate to and not relate to?
Her confidence. If she doesn't agree with something, she will stand up against it but I'm not sure if I will continue to relate to her later on.
Why? Does she become a pushover?
No not a pushover. We haven't got that much clarity over the storyline, all I can say is that it will follow the novel.
Who do you get along with the most from the cast of 'Saraswatichandra'?
Everyone. There's not really one person I get along with more or anything, we all get along. The truth is that we work for long 12 hour shifts that when I'm not shooting, I prefer to relax because we don't get much time to do so.
Can we talk about the rumours?
Which ones in particular? I read so many nowadays I can't keep up (laughs)
The first one being your reluctance to do intimate scenes?
You know, I really don't understand why it's become such a big issue. All I had said is that as a husband Karan is possessive because it's just natural for a newly married couple to feel possessive about each other but it's not like we're extremely possessive or anything. My only limitations have been no kissing on the lips or explicit s*x scenes and that's always been the case. Gautam has no problem with me whatsoever. I have done intimate scenes before and I will still do them. I've done many intimate scenes in Saraswatichandra so why would I suddenly have a problem with them? It makes no sense.
You remember the aata scene?
Of course. How much more intimate can you get than that scene? That was a very intimate. I seriously have no problems doing such scenes. Salman Khan doesn't kiss on the lips but it doesn't seem an issue. I don't know why but I've always been in the negative light ever since Saraswatichandra began (laughs). After a while you read the same things over and over again and I think 'Chalo apna kaam karte hai chup chaap'. What else can I do? There is so much I can say.
What about Farah Khan's 'Happy New Year'?
My father-in-law had actually read the article to me and I was like 'Really? I'm doing a movie and I don't even know about it?' (laughs). I did receive a call from their office but I was shooting then so I called them back later and they were busy. So nothing is actually happening. I'm not doing the movie and am completely committed to Saraswatichandra.
Is there anyone you're in awe of?
Mr.Amitabh Bachchan. I just want to go up to him and ask 'How? Like how do you do it? How are you so brilliant in every frame?'. He has literally been to death and back. The way he has re-invented himself bowls me over. There is no-one like him.
Your fans always want to read more about Jennifer Winget the actress but unfortunately we never get much to read about in that area'
Yeh but it seems like the media is only interested in my marital life or these other rumours (laughs)
Thank you for your time Jenny'
It was lovely speaking to you and I would like to thank all my fans for always giving me feedback and letting me know where I've gone right or wrong.
