Oh loads of shows have had good main lead replacements and worked very well. Kuch Toh Log Kahenge is an example. Mohnish Behl started the show and people watched it only because of him. He left in a bad way after the 100th episode and they got a new guy. The show went on for 2 more years. I do not know why Gul gave up on Iss Pyaar.
