About the make up artist i fully agree with you i think she looks really pretty on the title sequence and her makeup also looks better but in the serial her makeup doesn't seem as great, maybe it will change later on abit because for most of the leading ladies it does. About her clothes i think she wears them becasue they go with her character and thats what someone like her in reality would probabaly wear.
