"Go ahead and flaunt your assets"

Delhi based model and first runner-up of Femina Cover Girl, Soumya Tandonwas bit by the acting bug and she landed in tellydom. This Dubai born actor marked her noteworthy debut in Sony's Aisa Des Hai Mera where she essayed the role of a Brit NRI Rusty who migrates to India in search of her roots. And Soumya has taken her role quite seriously! We are talking about this fictional character's dressing sense which has influenced Soumya. To know more, read on…..

"I love long leather boots"

Fashion mantra: One must dress according to their personality and body type, like Ash did in Dhoom 2! Go ahead and flaunt your assets. But if you have a heavy body and you attempt to wear a real tight top, babe you will end up looking like a fool!

Videshi attire: I love the feminine avatar - tube or backless English dresses or flared skirts with sexy corsets. Although I have a real slim figure, I am not comfortable with micro minis, so knee length or slightly above skirts is my pick.

Desi attire: Though Rusty is always clad in salwar kameez, personally I just can't stand them. I prefer a saree as it looks more graceful. My wardrobe has an entire section dedicated to this eternal Indian outfit - be it white, emerald green, sky blue and other exotic colours. I dislike the heavy fabrics like silk and kanjivaram and prefer softer sensuous materials like chiffon and georgettes. The work on my sarees has to be minimalistic yet chic, as I don't like anything OTT. I also love to play around with my blouses, be it a halter or backless, but being a bit traditional, I don't dig the strappy variety as popularized by Mandira Bedi.

"Subtlety and elegance is my style mantra"

Accessorisation: I love long leather boots that go very well with skirts and hats. As far as jewelry goes, if it's a gown, then a beautiful solitaire diamond is enough. For ethnic outfits, oxidized silver jewelry with bangles should do the trick. Subtlety and elegance is my style mantra.

Day out gear: If I go shopping or for coffee with friends, you'll find me in tight denims and a funky colourful top

Homesake: I lounge around in T shirt and pajamas.

Last say: I feel that the Indian woman has much greater options to play around with heir dressing as compared to their western counterparts, who only have gowns and dresses. Indian fashion offers much more, not only in terms of the number of outfits, but in embellishment and accessories as well. But as we go global, we should try to make our colours and work more subtle, as this will attract a sizable western market as well.
