TOI: unusual jodis rock TRPs-Chanchan-Uma

Small screen soaps have enough drama and rona-dhona to make boring weeknights entertaining. What makes some of these shows infinitely more interesting is the screen chemistry, hold on — not between the lead couple, but between important characters in the show whose screen time together helps build the high-octane drama, create twists in the 22-minute tale and grab eyeballs. Presenting the new TRP-pulling jodis whose chemistry is also combustible, because they simply burn up the screens everytime they lock horns, share angry eyelocks and have a war of words.

Sandhya and Bhabho in Diya Aur Baati Hum
Yeh jodi bhi kamaal ki: This saas-bahu jodi might not exude positive vibes, given that Sandhya (Deepika Singh) and Bhabho (Nilu Vaghela) are busy following the stereotype saas and bahu role models right from day one. Currently, Bhabho is mighty upset her son for pushing Sandhya towards a career in IPS, so the bechari beendhni Sandhya has to keep on justifying her love and duty for the family in every few episodes or else MIL from Pushkar screeches, flares her nostrils in rage and breaks pots (literally) reducing Sandhya to a bundle of nerves. The hate-hate chemistry surely has kept the show safely perched at numero uno position on TRP charts for a whole year now.

Mukta, Meethi in Uttaran
Yeh jodi bhi kamaal ki: After Tapasya and Iccha, the mantle of carrying the legacy of a new love-hate relationship has moved to their daughters Mukta (Sreejita De) and Meethi ( Tina Dutta). So, it's old formula served in a new package, as the two dainty Bong beauties end up married in the same family, in a history repeats itself situation. Hopefully the drama will pick up some much needed pace as the newly minted bahus combine forces to outwit the evil in-laws.

RK and Sultan in Madhubala... Ek Ishq Ek Junoon
Yeh jodi bhi kamaal ki: You'd have thought that now that sulky underworld don Sultan (Avinesh Rekhi) lost out to RK (Vivian D'sena) when the latter married Madhubala ( Dhrashti Dhami), he'd be wrecking havoc elsewhere . But can Sullu stay away from his 'real bhai' RK? So Sultan and RK are back in the same frame pointing fingers at each other, sharing angry eyelocks, know-all smirks and smart one-liners as the ladies in the credit line make up the background space. Ahaan! This chemistry is rocking.

Tanveer and Zoya in Qubool Hai
Yeh jodi bhi kamaal ki: These two are an unsual couple. Zoya (Surbhi Jyoti) and Tanveer (Amrapalli Gupta) take catfights to new lows everytime they indulge in verbal duels. And all this to win the hand of the fair male protagonist Asad ( Karan Singh Grover)! Last seen Tanveer seduced Zoya's would-be husband, buried Zoya alive in a wall and has followed the nimble lass to Ajmer, presumably to bump her off. It's funny how Z & T get to share more screen space than even the lead couple!

Virat & Viren in Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai
Yeh jodi bhi kamaal ki: Brothers in arms, Viren ( Karan Tacker) and Virat (Kushal Tandon) might have just made peace in real life (over who gets more airtime and prominence in the show), but on screen their amazing chemistry combined with their starry screen appeal, easy charm and good looks make the show colourful. It's quite a tall order to grab eyeballs in a behna show, but the K guys are real scene-stealers!

Chhanchhan and Umaben in Chhanchhan
Yeh jodi bhi kamaal ki: The chemistry between the new saas-bahu jodi, Chhanchhan (Sanaya Irani) and Umaben ( Supriya Pathak Kapoor) is far more interesting and entertaining than that between the lead couple on any week night! Even as the new Manav ( Anuj Sachdev) tries hard to share forced eyelocks and 'lift' scenes with the spunky Chhanchhan (and fails miserably), it's her battle of wits with her just acquired wily and manipulative saasu-ma that actually makes a little impact on the audience (the show's sagging TRPs tell the real story). Needless to say Supriya shines through every scene while Sanz has loads of screen charm too!

I dont think Anuj has failed AT ALL in creating chemistry with Sanaya. I dont know what they expect to see..!! 🥱 He is doing an amazing job and credit should be given where its due..!

But yes, Sanaya-Supriya scenes are really nice because they are after all the USP of the show.. <3

Sanaya/Supriya have great chemistry but I quit disagree with the article I think Sanaya & Anuj chemistry is equal good and they're getting good response.

Exactly Aaliyah.. We can ACTUALLY see a rise in TRPs after he has entered the show and its more because now people are equally interested to watch Manav-CC scenes other than UB-CC clashes..

Look at the forum discussing instead the talk is more about Sanaya & Anuj chemistry than the Saas Bahu one they're hardly discussing going on about the Saas Bahu chemistry. I don't get what these people are talking about.

While I appreciate what they wrote about Supriya Pathak and Sanaya, they are two very talented actors, I think what they wrote about Chhanchhan and Manav chemistry is really off the mark. This jodi is doing well and started getting noticed too...

I think because they are emphasizing on unusual jodis in this article and sanaya and supriyaji are definately the pillars of the show ...they are undermining the chemistry of the leads. Anuj is a welcome addition as manav , their is no doubt abt it.

Personally speaking , any article which has positive things to say abt sanaya ... I am happy with it.
