Gauri had purchased some wedding dresses for both Shan and Alaka. Shlok compliments her on her choices. To this Gauri says that she is confused as to what Shan would wear in his wedding since it would have to be one dress only. Meera is standing in the upper balcony and remembering the words of Guruji that if this marriage takes place, then she would have to pay a heavy price for it which would be a burden for her entire life. Abhi sees her in a pensive mood; he takes her downstairs to where Gauri and Shlok are choosing the dresses. Gauri says that Shan will wear a dark charcoal grey formal suit, while Meera says that Shan would look good in the bandh-gala cream coloured sherwani that Gauri had purchased. Abhi calls Shan to pick his own dress and he picks the sherwani. Gauri is not happy.
She then tells others that she had picked up a few sarees for Alaka too. She says that Alaka will look good in a blue saree while Meera argues that Alaka will look good in a red saree. Meera brings Alaka down to the hall and she chooses the blue saree picked up by Gauri.
Suli sees all these happenings from the upper balcony and is thoroughly disgusted. As she makes her way inside the house, she is met by Ira who asks her the reason for her irritation. Suli tells her that Shan and Alaka's respective daughters are bothered about getting the two married while she is worried about her daughter's future. In fact, people from Lucknow were expected to come soon with the marriage proposal for Akanksha. She decides to call them and tell them about all the happenings in their house. Ira offers to help Suli call the people at Lucknow but tells her that the phone is going on ringing, perhaps there was nobody in the house and that they should call later. She then convinces Suli to prepare gajar-ka-halwa for her and oils her by saying that Suli should be termed as the 'Annapurna' of the house. Suli is flattered and goes off. Ira thinks to herself how could she allow Suli to talk to people in Lucknow before Ammaji's plans reaches fruition?
Yash congratulates Shan on finding happiness back in his life once again and tells Shan that all credit goes to Ammaji who has shown her large-hearted nature by agreeing to the marriage. Shan agrees to this. At that moment, Ammaji comes and asks Yash whether he had spoken to Shan about their export business. Shan replies that he is ready to look after the export part of their business. Yash also tells Ammaji that there is a programme going on in Delhi to this effect and it would benefit Shan if he attended that Meeting. Ammaji forces Shan to go and attend the Meeting.
Alaka is sitting in her room when Shan comes with a Solhah Singaar box and gifts it to Alaka. He tells her that he was going to Delhi for a few days, Alaka is scandalized as she realizes that it is a part of Ammaji's game plan to keep Shan away during Meera's wedding. Seeing her all quiet, Shan asks her why she is not being at all forthcoming at all, now that they are going to be married.
Once he leaves, Ammaji comes in and picks the beauty case up. She then tells Alaka that the case should remain empty always. She then takes Alaka to her room and shows her a number of bridal wears. Ammaji tells Alaka that Meera will look very good in these traditional outfits. Alaka doesn't know what to say and remembers all those beautiful times she had spent with Meera. She gains courage and asks Ammaji as to how Ammaji would tell Meera about her marriage. Ammaji tells Alaka that it will be Alaka who will break the news of Meera's marriage to her and it is Alaka's duty to force a 'yes' from Meera. Alaka was the only person to whom Meera would say yes, especially if Alaka invoked the mother-daughter bond. Ammaji then holds Alaka's hands in a grasp and asks her whether she would help Ammaji in maintaining and preserve the dignity of the Bharadwaj Family? Alaka doesn't know what to say and stands like a statute. Emotional blackmailing at its height.
