I bet my money on…Star gazing...

Ekta Kapoor

I place my bets on Prachi Desai and Shabbir Ahluwalia. They're the dark horses in my team. The year 2007 will belong to them. Prachi is already famous as Bani but you've to wait and watch for Shabbir in my next show Kis Rishte Se.

Gauri Pradhan

The star of 2007 will undoubtedly be Hiten Tejwani. I'm not biased because he is my husband. His character in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi boosts his popularity. Also I know for sure that Ekta has thought of a brilliant show for him. He'll rule this year.

Akashdeep Sehgal

The biggest star of 2007 will be Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. That show will continue to keep the audiences entertained. It's been topping the charts for the past five years. Without sounding immodest, I feel every actor in the show is a star, me included.

Mona Singh

It's too early to predict who the star of 2007 will be. I think Hussain is very promising. Apart from him, other actors in the existing shows are doing well too. I can only wish them luck.

Rohit Roy

In the TV industry there aren't any actors. What you see on screen are characters. An actor is big or small in a soap according to the popularity of their characters. Smriti Irani has been numero uno for a while because of her Tulsi image. Tomorrow another actress whose character turns out to be bigger then Tulsi will shoot to fame.

Shah Rukh Khan

When the over-hyped Don and the over-soppy KANK generated a tepid response at the box-office, SRK's magic seemed to be dwindling just a tad. However, he promises to bounce back with Kaun Banega Crorepati, where he steps into Big B's big shoes. Going by the hype generated, the game show will definitely boost SRK's career. Besides that, the badshah of Bollywood has Chak De with Yashraj Films lined up. Then there is friend Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om.

A R Rahman

He's the one who has put Bollywood on the global map, what with three of his songs going to the Oscars, two from Rang De Basanti and one from Water. This year he has Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodha Akbar, then there's Mani Ratnam's Lajjo, Shyam Benegal's Chamki Chameli, to name a few…

Vidya Balan

Vidya Balan has had a pretty good run-up to 2007, first with Parineeta and then, of course, with Lage Raho Munnabhai. This year she has three big films — Vinod Chopra's Eklavya, Nikhil Advani's Salaam-E-Ishq and Mani Ratnam's Guru. The lady with the old world charm seems to be the one to watch out for now.

Hrithik Roshan

Hrithik Roshan had a glorious 2006, and seems poised to rise more in the upcoming year. From wooing kids in Krrish, to getting girls to drool with his macho act in Dhoom 2, he has proved his versatility once again. In fact Hrithik has set a new yardstick of what takes to be a star. His near-perfect body, stallion-like movements and inherent rhythm, send warning signals to other heroes to pull up their socks. Hrithik moves into the period film genre in 2007 withAshutosh Gowariker's Jodha-Akbar. Will he outshine the rest in this costume drama too? We're sure he will.

Madhuri Dixit

This year she is ready to take off from where she left off five years ago, following marriage and kids. Five years back she displayed that she had perfected her art in Sanjay Bhansali's Devdas, now she has returned from the US to act in a Yashraj Films production. The media and audiences have been following her movements with keen interest ever since she landed in Mumbai. No doubt her comeback film will be watched carefully.

Tabu

Tabu too, though she has been around, is making a comeback of sorts in a big film — Mira Nair's Namesake — this year. After Vishal Bhardwaj's Maqbool in 2003, she hasn't really made a mark on screen. Now she gets to enact the author-backed role of a first generation Indian in the US in the film which is adapted from Jhumpa Lahiri's book. Going by reports, hers is a role to watch out for.
