What happened between..

hey i just started to watch karam apna apna and i really couldn't understand the whole point of why they had gauri marry shiv.. the family could have choose anybody they wanted to for shiv's marriage then y did they choose gauri?? and was it something like that shiv's first wife would die w/o a reason or something else?? can someone please help me out thanx

ok well shiv has a kundli dosh saying whoever he marries will die within the first 8 months of the marriage... shiv wanted to marry ipshita but when they found that out (dosh) then nikila made shashank run away from doing the marriage and shiv sit in the mandap... so shiv married gauri so when she dies adn the dosh is gone he can marry ipshita..
