No more TRPs? Interesting.

As it turns out ZeeTv, StarIndia, Sony.. all of them have opted out of the TAM ratings citing that it was not very accurate and didn't really provide the correct picture of their actual viewership.

Is the news confirmed? I for one have always felt that the TRP system ends up stifling creativity and compels makers to adopt the tried and tested route..But now that its gone, am not sure if its a good thing😆 How exactly do you measure the success of a show? I know the TRPs are not always reflective of how popular a show is but still it kinda gave atleast a skewed idea of how far a show has been accepted😆 Of course online portals like IF can never be taken into account cos that would just result in M&B stories and wooden planks being celebrated😆 So am kinda confused at the moment..Wouldn't the makers become lethargic cos there is nothing to indicate whether a particular track has been accepted or not? How exactly will you have sponsors for a show cos as far as i know, its the TRPs which attract them..Btw, am not sure if its going to bring about a positive change..It can either give Gul a free hand and encourage her to show more of Asad-Zoe and cut down on the regressive and annoying shit OR it can also have the opposite effect and give her the confidence to continue with this Billi track forever cos there is no question of the viewers getting bored😆 I guess the bottom line is, if not the TRPs, there must be some indicator to measure the success of a show with reasonable accuracy..

They were a sort of report card weren't they? On one hand it took away from creativity and on the other hand one can argue if shows were this bad with a reportcard imagine without it.

It could go both ways.

We can hope things change for the better for QH.

We'll probably have a new system soon. I mean add companies give out sponsorship based on how popular a channel is, without it advertising becomes rather vague doesn't it? And Adds are a big part of television.
