Chapter 17 - NEW BEGINNINGS
Inside Sitaara Studio
Rk hangs up on the phone and dizzly walks towards the couch...madhu runs to hold him...n they sit on the couch...Rk's breathing becomes loud...he feels breathless...madhu is shocked...she holds his face n says..
Madhu: rk...rk kya hua? (in shock...tears rolling down her eyes)
Rk just motions his hand to madhu in a way to say 'its nothing' n he tries to get up...madhu helps him get up...slowly they walk towards the door while madhu tightly holds on to rk's arm...when they reach the door...rk turns his head back to have a look at the place before leaving...madhu looks at him with concern...and they start moving out of the studio towards the vanity van...as soon as they reach the gate rk feels breathless again...they pause...
Madhu : rk..(with a question mark on her face)
Rk just avoids madhu's question and walks ahead...madhu walks along...they reach the vanity van and this time in the early morning light she witnesses the broken glass of the vanity...
In The Vanity Van
they enter the vanity van and Rk sits on the seat while madhu is about to go towards the counter when rk pulls her by her hand..
Rk : biiwiii ! shuru ho gaya tumhaara nurse ban-na ?
Madhu : rk mazaak karne ka bhi koi waqt hota hai ! (angrily)
Rk : biwi relax ! zinda hoon main abhi...tumhein dekhke saanse ruk gayi thi!
N she jerks her hand freeing it from rk and moves towards the counter to get a glass of water for him...she gives him the glass when rk's phone rings...madhu snatches the phone from his hand and answers...
Bittuji : cheif aap thik hain? Mujhe abhi abhi raaajesh ne bataaya
Madhu : bittuji...
Bittuji : bhabhiji ?
Madhu : bittuji...main aur aapke cheif thik hain
Bittuji : bhabhiji...main studio ke paas pohoch raha hoon..
Madhu : bittuji rajesh gaadi lekar aa raha hai...aap bas maa ka khyaal rakhiye (call ends)
Rk snatches the phone from madhu's hands and calls rajesh..before rk could speak

In The Car
Rk and madhu get out of the vanity van and sit in the car's back seat...rajesh starts driving when rk says, "chawl chalo"
Madhu stares at rk with a confused look...but, immediately speaks, "hum rk mansion jaa rahe hain rk...chawl nahi...tumhaari tabiyat bhi thik nahi hai"
Rk : main thik hoon biwi..kaha naa maine tumse...hum chawl jaa rahe hain..final
Madhu : Rk...wo...woh vanity ka tutaa hua sheehsa?...tumhaari yeh chot (pointing at his right shoulder)
Rk : madhu woh...woh mujhe yaad nahi...
Madhu : tum kahaan thhe Rk?
Rk was drunk and soon unconscious...he woke up suddenly after a couple of hours with sweat on his forehead and back...he raised his right arm to wipe it off and felt acute pain...he turned around his head and noticed the the cut on the side of his right shoulder...there was a small piece of glass which had pierced him and was stuck in...he tried to remove the glass piece with his left hand slowly...it was painful...as soon as he removed it blood started flowing out...he ran to the cabinet and grabbed a tie to wind it around his wound...after a little while he changed into shirt and jeans and lay on the seat for a while...it was late evening almost...he went to the driver's seat and started driving the van towards the main road with his arm still aching and the headache due to alcohol...he wanted to go home...but he didn't feel like facing his mom right now...he just wanted sometime off...he felt lost...the thought of losing madhu took over him...he could not resist...a lone tear slid off his eyes...he wondered if she would return after him asking her again to leave...he felt lonely...it was getting dark...he slowly started driving but his headache didn't allow him to focus...he just stopped the vanity van...went to the counter and sipped water...he went to the cabinet and removed a dupatta and just stared at it remembering his marriage with madhu...kneeling down he rested his head on the cabinet door thinking about the pain he had caused to his madhu...a part of him was happy to let her go and a part of him was in pain that she left...after a while he started driving again...but, he stopped when he saw siddhivinayak temple...he tied the dupatta around his head to ease the headache and then walked out of the vanity towards the temple...the temple was shut...he woke up the watchman and asked him to open the gate...the watchman refused initially but agreed when he saw it was rk...rk gave him some money to hide the fact that he had been here...the watchman agreed...
The temple was dark with almost all the lights out except for some diyas lit up that made the ambience very peaceful...rk sat in a corner...he was tired of all the mess...resting his head on the wall behind and lost in thoughts he fell asleep... 'ting! Ting! Ting ! ting' the 4 am aarti woke him up...he got up n went towards the deity..took blessings and had the prasad and quickly slid out of the temple...
Madhu : Rk ?
N rk snapped out of his thoughts...madhu was holding his father's ring in front of his eyes...rk checked his hands to realise it was his ring...
Rk : madhu yeh tumhe kahaan mili?
Madhu : siddhivinayak
Madhu tells rk where all she had been (skipping the arjun dikshit part) and they continue the talk...

Padmini, trishna and madhu are just staring...when madhu speaks "rk tum kya kar rahe ho?"
Rk : SHH (showing her his raised hand hinting to not interrupt)
He turns and looks around a little and picks up the spices containing jars...puts in half a spoon of turmeric powder and ginger powder in boiling water...and then opens the fridge...takes out a bottle of honey and pours a little in the vessel...pours the mix in a cup and walks to madhu...
Rk : lo biwi ! isse pee lo...(Madhu stares at him bewildered...) ab ghuur kyu rahi ho...tumhe pata hi hai naa... yeh gunpowder,zeher aur drug ka kadha hai...
Padmini was still trying to understand ("kar kya raha hai yeh ladka")
Trishna was smiling and enjoying looking at both rk and madhu..
Padmini : Rk tum...(and rk cuts her)
Rk : (turning to face padmini) trishna se waada kiya tha maine ki shaadi ke baad madhu ko lekar aaunga aapse aashirwad lene ke liye...
Maa main maafi maangta hoon maine jo kiya madhu ke saath...aap sabke saath kiya...lekin mera aapse waada hai ki main madhu ko hamesha khush rakhoonga...usse kabhi kisi cheez ki takleef nahi hone doonga...

Padmini initially hesitates but, smiles and gives in...she keeps her hand on both of their heads with relief...

Madhu just pats trishna's shoulder hinting to stop pestering rk...but, to madhu's and trishna's surprise...rk says "thank u" and bends...while trishna stops him midway...they smile..

And saying this rk opens the door and he almost runs to the car...
