NOSTALGIA - through the memory lane
It was just as if yesterday , I saw a cute bundle wrapped in a towel laying beside my mother. It was wee hours in the morning when my father took me to a strange place when I saw my mother and that bundle laying on the bed. I didn't know why but I didn't like some one beside my mother . well the instinct of jealousy kicked me and I tried to move that thing to lay beside my mother.
But my grandma pulled me and scolded me with some unusual words. I was a kid. I didn't understand her words but I did figure it out that she was scolding me. Tears started to cascade my cheeks . my father gathered me in my arms and took me towards mom.
" my dear , do you remember . I always told you that a baby is gonna come. And you have to take care of it."
I nodded my head slowly wiping my tears with my small hands.
" well this is the baby. now you are her big sister . now its your duty to take care of her. "
I looked at the baby curiously. And as I saw her face I didn't know. But some thing magical happened. I felt something whispering inside me " this is my sister . i have to take care of her "

I did try to be like a big sister but all my attemts did go in vain. After all I was just a 3 year old kid by then. For instance once I tried to feed her with a feeding bottle and then I realized how sharp my baby sister's teeth were. The next minute I was wailing like hell with a bite on my hand and that was the moment I decided never to try to feed my sister coz she had the teeth of a carvnivore.

Every thing is still fresh. All the memories are still blooming spreading their fragrance every where. I one do remember my sister asking me a question.
" didi. We both were born from mama's tummy. Then how come you are elder than me. "
Well at that time the question was as if it was about quantum physics. After a lot of thinking and thinking and thinking I finally said " well we both were in mama's tummy and when I was coming out I did ask you to come with me. But you did not listen . you stayed back and finally came out after I became big "
"Really ?"
" yah really !!"

Even now I fall into pits of laughter thinking about it.
I always wanted to be a big sister to her. Wake her up in the morning, save her from mom's scolding, help her with her home work , stop her from getting bullied by her fellow mates and always be the person she looks upon to. But in the contrary she wakes me up in the morning , saves me from mom's scolding, helps me with my home work especially science , stops me from getting bullied by my fellow mates and is the only person I can always look upon to .
I've seen her grow from a small baby who bites anything and anyone she gets her hands on to a teenage physics nerd . she always has peculiar tastes and I don't know where did she gets those from. I always wondered and still wondering how my little sister grew so fast. Happy birthday my nerdy sis ! and always remember I love you a lot and always will.
thanks for every thing . thanks for being a good friend. for a good companion. for being a good elder sister though you're younger to me . as you always say AGE IS JUST A NUMBER .
