Album Review : Doorie by Atif

Starting with first song Doorie, you get an impression of nice techno/ trance embedded with sound variations and good buildup. The quickly becomes a steady composition. The next song is the same old Ehsaas, nothing much here. Hum Kis Galli Ja Rahe Hain is nice one, infact equal to first one with a rock touch. Kuch Iss Tarhan is a slow number with nice flute with different experimental sounds and ghazal effect, though it never sounds ghazal at all. O Re Piya is a good song with an Indian movie touch (I like the tabla). Good one. Mahi Ve Soniya is Punjabi touch song that goes well as you get into the rhythm with it. The lyrics specially have been well placed with the tunes here else they would sound miserable. The saxophone is used well too. The Qawali style Maula is a good attempt though. Could have improved a lot & if the pace was slowed down with powerful lyrics it could be one of the best. But unfortunately Atif lacking in traditional training music this would be real tough. Next Yaqeen is the same old good track.

Doorie (House Mix) is better than the original Doorie, but that's for me. You do share your opinion. The trance touch suits so well to this one. Great work Atif. I wonder what if completely switches to trance side. All the songs after this one are remixes with nice compositions but the album I guess would be great in a concert than at home. One would be fed up with the monotonous tunes. All in all an album worth listening to. You sure will love it in a dance party or concert. Following is the list of songs available in album.

All songs r great especially Doorie, Kuch is tarah and O re piya... 😛 😛 👏 Yaqeen and Ehsaas are old ones....they r really good songzz....their lyrics and the depth in ATIF's voice is just awesome!! 👏

I'm absolutely in love with the title song... esp his alaap... ahh 😳 where instead of ranging higher, his voice trails off lower... its the alaap at the beginning of the common Doorie trailer they've been showing on TV.

i was kinda disappointed by tha fact that 3 of tha songs were old ones..but 6 are still new, so i guess it's all good.. 😳 i esp. like Maula, Kuch Iss Tarah, n Hum Kiss Gali, O Re Piya..and of course Doorie..!! (haha thas like all of em). n i like Mahiya Ve Soneya, too!! (but im kinda bothered by that chick singin in the background..kinda annoyin, nahin?) 😆 other than that, it's a FABULOUS album..i've bin listenin to it non-stop of the last couple of days.. 😳

Kuch is tarah is the soul of the album! 😛
