And it won't be until RK has induced Madhu into abandoning even the last smidgen of her identity.

I don't think he could think that far as to want to manipulate her by staying locked up in his room. There have been other occassions in the past when he had vented his frustration on the furniture of his house. The man had been dealt two huge blows - one, catching his would be wife in the bedroom sharing details of their love life and discussing her aborted revenge plan with the man he hates. Two, realising that the ever forgiving and selfless Madhu is merely a myth. It is commendable that he did not lash out her then and there as he did in the bollywood theme party in which her perceived fault was far less. He left in disgust to vent in private.

By the way, from what they have shown so far, he tends to drive away when he is miserable and knows that he himself is the cause for it. On the face of it, the bedroom scene seemed like Madhu let him down. he has still not dug deeper to find out why did she let him down. So at the moment he feels victimised. Madhu needs to yell out why she was pushed to act the way she did. That will bring him back to his senses and drill that guilt in.

I guess its a matter of perception. In my eyes, RK consciously or unconsciously will always act to put himself in the best possible position, even at the expense of Madhu. Selfless Madhu is not a myth. I'm sorry, but I can not see how we're supposed to interpret her actions in any other way, than complete selflessness. Atleast in relation to him. Her revenge plot was laughable. All she did was give him opportunity to woo her. Which is what her heart wanted all along.

I'm not saying RK doesn't have the right to be angry, or feel wronged. By his estimation, his woman was meeting another man behind his back. But I'm not about to make a downward comparison to paint his behaviour in a better light. My problem is not his childish tantrum, my problem is his nature. His words. "RK became Madhu and Madhu became RK". 😆😆 okay there buddy.

RK is incapable of anything but the most selfish of motivations. The way he gloats in front of Sultan is also telling. I would go so far as to say that his pain doesn't stem from feelings of betrayal (because its been explained to him that Madhu loves only him). He's getting all angsty because that Madhu Sultan scene brought to his attention that he has not won. He's yet to understand that relationships aren't games in which one can eliminate a piece simply by blocking it out. I'm not saying he's not in love. Love is just a word. And for RK this is love. I'm simply not a fan and so that will colour my interpretation of what I see onscreen.

PS: I don't think RK needs to feel guilt. He just needs to learn empathy. Compassion may be a long shot though.

Madhu is not as selfish as RK but she isn't selfless either. She is merely human. She may have aborted her revenge plan once she realised he truly loved her but her original motivation was to see his heart break. So that thought cannot be termed as selfless although he really deserve it after what he did to her.

He said he could not become Madhu but she has become RK. So he knows being him is not flattering and seems to despises himself as much as we do.

I want him to realise that she tried to become RK but couldn't. If she had become RK, she would have gone through with her plan. After all did he not go through his heartless revenge even though he had fallen for Madhu by then?

Yes, Madhu only loves him and he heard her loud and clear but that is not the problem. What hurt him is that she chose to share private details about their love life and discuss her revenge plan and patiently explain why she did not go through with it to a man he detests with all his heart. It would irk any man to know that his wife was sharing details of their relationship with another man. Here we are talking about RK who is essentially a very private guy who holds memories of his near and dear ones close to his heart. That is why he reacted violently when he thought Madhu wilfully printed pictures of him with his father in the newspapers. I don't think it has anything to do with winning because he knows Sultan does not stand a chance with him.

Did Madhu not act the same way when she found out that RK subjecrted her to a love test on Dip's goading? Did she not feel hurt that he brought Dips into their relationship?

He's yet to understand that relationships aren't games in which one can eliminate a piece simply by blocking it out. I'm not saying he's not in love. Love is just a word. And for RK this is love. I'm simply not a fan and so that will colour my interpretation of what I see onscreen.

Yes, RK's kind of love is not healthy. that is why he is trying hard to mimic Madhu's love because he knows it is superior. He still has a long way to go and Madhu has not made it easier for him because he just got disillusioned by her love.

PS: I don't think RK needs to feel guilt. He just needs to learn empathy. Compassion may be a long shot though.

I think empathy will come once guilt kicks in because he needs to correlate his pain with hers and for that he needs to know how much he hurt her.

great post. I'm really enjoying the discussion 👏😃

With the first bolded part, I guess I misunderstood. I tend to block him out when he starts to annoy me. But yes, the sentiment is the same. I dislike RK's constant comparisons of "RK and Madhu". It always make me feel a little 😕. its like he thinks RK and Madhu are two characters in a film. He's observant, but he approaches things with such a clinical manner sometimes. Emotion doesn't stimulate him, it intrigues him. This ties into the second bolded part. He shouldn't have to mimic a different type of love or person. His basic human emotions are so screwed up that it borders on frightening. Empathy is key. He needs to understand that although he experiences the world through his own eyes, the world doesn't exist for his eyes only.

As for guilt, there are two types right. (1) the type you feel when you do something wrong and get caught. So you don't really feel guilty for causing another pain, you just feel guilty for getting caught and shamed. (2) then there is genuine remorse for hurting another. The type Madhu was feeling throughout her revenge failure.

RK seems incapable of the latter. Mainly because I don't think his emotions and nature facilitate that type of remorse.
