Days passed after Zoya's encounter with Asad. Even though her friends scolded her for turning down the invitation but she was able to make them understand that for her, friends matter a lot than a stranger. Not even for once she regretted the decision. Yes, Asad was indeed a starnegr for her. its true that she knows about him and his background as he was the famous star. But for a girl like Zoya, that information was not sufficient.
She walked through the crowded bazar trying to find the perfect gift she would buy for her Najma. Najma was getting married to her best friend cum lover Rohan. Zoya was really happy for them. Its couple like Najma and Rohan who kept her faith in love. Najma and Rohan's love was not a cahewalk. They had to endure pain of separation before everything fall into one piece. Hailing from different religions, their love story was not acceptable for their parents. But through their sheer determination and love for each other, they fought for their love and that atlast brought result. Not every man is coward, thought Zoya as she remembered how ferociously Rohan fought for Najma. But there are some men who won't stand up for their loved ones. They hurt others pretty badly but claim that they are left with no choice… Don't go over there Zoya, her mind chided her.
Sighing she resumed her hunt for the perfect gift. Atlast she found one. It was a sculpture of a girl and boy where the girl was in his arms smiling. They showed the picture perfect love. A smile appeared in her face as she gazed at the art piece lovingly.
"Beautiful, isn't it?"
The sudden voice behind her starteled her. she turned around only to collide with a broad chest. Keeping herself steady she looked up to find two hazel eyes staring at her.
"You!!!"
That was the first thing escaped from her mouth. The other person chuckled at her reaction. Rolling her eyes she spoke,
"I am shocked, what The Asad Ahmed Khan is doing in a place like this?"
Asad chuckled again at the sarcasm dripping in her voice.
"You never failed to amuse me you know… you were fine a moment ago. Your face was filled with smile… now all of a sudden your mood changed seeing me. Am I that bad to see?"
His words made Zoya realize that she was indeed a bit rude to him.
"I… I am sorry Mr.Khan… I never intended to be rude… its just that… I am surprised to see you again…here…"
Asad was yet again amazed with the girl infront of him. She had seen him for the second time but still she didn't behave anything like his other fan girls do. She was shocked but still she was talking to him as if he was a normal guy. And he felt grateful at that.
Zoya: "By the way, you haven't answered my question. What are you doing here? That too in this dress?"
She asked him while scrutinizing the he was wearing. He was dressed in a torn jeans and plain tshirt while a cap adorned his head.
Asad: "Well… I am in this city for a film shooting. Today was a day off. So I thought to roam in this crowded bazar. I dressed up like this so that no one recognizes me… I was enjoying the free day I got when I suddenly I saw the girl who ditched my invitation for the food…"
Zoya started laughing at the last sentence. Asad's eye fell on the dimple which formed in her cheek. Oh man! She has a killer dimpled smile… She may not be the most beautiful girl he has ever seen. But she was definitely the most interesting girl he has ever seen.
The rest of Asad's day was eventful. Along with Zoya, he explored the unexplored parts of town. He was in awe seeing the places, understanding the culture, tasting the cuisines, all thanks to Zoya. He never felt this happy in his life. With the each passing moments with Zoya, he realized that like her name she also brings life in others' lives.
Whats the best way to end a perfect day other than sitting in a sandy beach and look at the setting sun ablaze. And they didn't exactly that. He just didn't want that day to end. He looked at her. she was sitting in a rock completely immersed in the beauty of the sunset. She looked completely ethereal. Soon the sun will go to its abode and the light will give its way to darkness and that will be the moment she will be bidding goodbye to him. The mere thought of that brought a lump in his throat. Keeping those toughts aside, he joined her in drinking the beauty of the most beautiful moments of their life.
Zoya: "Asad.."
Asad: "Hm…"
Zoya: "How beautiful is this moment na? feel soo heavenly…"
Asad: "Hm…"
Zoya: "Have you ever thought why the sun has to go every day?"
Asad: "It's because earth is rotating you silly… what did you say about your educational qualifications?"
Zoya: "Uffo…I know that… that's the answer our head gives us. But have you ever thought about the answer which our heart gives?"
She looked at him expectedly. He couldn't help but to crunch his eyebrows in frustration.
Zoya: "Whatever may be the logical explanation, our heart has a complete opposite set of answers. You cannot rule it by your head. Look at this sun. It goes away bringing nothing but darkness. But the hope still prevails that no matter what happens, the sun will rise the next day filling everyone's life with its rays. For me, the sun is setting not because of the earth is rotating in its own axis, but because it goes away so as to bring hopes in our lives. The hope that we will be able to live again, no matter how deep the pain is…"
Asad stared at her dumbstruck. Her eyes were still fixed on the horizon. But her faced showed altogether a different expression. She looked soo torn. Or is it that his face? Or does both of their face were bearing the same expression?
Asad: "You know Zoya, if I have heard this before today, I would have never beleieved it. I was in the darkness all these days. The darkness which was created by my own mistake. People usually tell that when one becomes star, he tend to believe that world is dancing in his fingertips and I did the mistake of beleving that. Such a playboy I was!!! I broke many girls' hearts. Everything was timepass for me. Even they knew it. But atlast I fell in love with my bestfriend of many years. And I married her and decided that from that time ownwards I would be a one woman man… the intial years of my marriage with Tanveer was blissful. We were truly in love, atleast I thought so. One day I came back early from a shooting only to surprise her. And guess what? I got the biggest surprise in my life. She was there, in our bed, cuddling to another man… I was soo devastated… My first love itself cheated me… I know I deserve it for playing with many girls' emotions. From that moment I decided, I no longer will be the playboy Ahmed Khan. But God was not in my favour. Even after my countless attempt, I couldn't correct my image infront of public. I lost all my hope. I was living in my own personal shell forgetting about the world outside. I had even forgotten the word hope until I saw you. You are really different from others. You don't give a damn about the superstar in me, but you care about the Asad in me. This day which I spend with you, is by far the greatest day in my life. Zoya, you made me believe in hope again. A hope that I will be forgiven for all my mistakes… A hope that I will be able to bring pride in my parents' face when they hear my name… A hope that my life also will be filled with light…Zoya… Will you help me in that? Will you… Will you be my friend? A friend whom I can rely on? The one I am lacking right now?"
He looked at her with hope filled eyes. She was stunned will be an understatement, she was shaken to the core by Asad's confession. She had read a lot about his playboy nature but never had she known that he was a broken man. One look at his pleading eyes, and she knew that he was nothing of that sort of man which media exaggerated about. He was just a man who had done some mistake in his past and was trying terribly to correct it. Who else doesn't deserve a chance? One chance was all he was asking. And Zoya decided, she will help him… To become a better man… To be the pride of his parents…
************************
There started their unique friendship. They were poles apart in character yet similar. They were not the chipkoo friends, yet they were really close. Residing in different cities would have been definitely a problem for some friends, but for Asad and Zoya, it was never a problem. The miles and miles of distance between them doesn't matter to them as their hearts were close. There was no fixed routine for their conversation. They call each other when there is something special to share with the other person, be it pain, happiness or anger…
It was an eventful day for Asad. He was fortune enough to grab a role in an internationally acclaimed film venture. When he informed this matter to his parents, he could see the pride and jpoy in his mom's and dad's face. And he coudnt resist his own lips form passing his million dollar dimple wala style. During dinner his mom had fed him his favourtite Kheer with her own hand which brought him back to his childhood.
As he sat in the arm chair in the balcony looking at the starry sky, he couldn't help but to think about Zoya. The very thought lit up a smile in his lips as he took his iphone and dialed her number. She took the call in the last ring which was higly unlikely of her, thought a skeptical Asad. He knew his intuition was correct as soon as he heard her voice… the voice which was always filled with energy was now soo torn…
Asad: "What happened Zoya? Why are you sad?"
That one question broke the wall she created around her heart. A sob escaped her mouth as she staretd cryibg bitterly through the phone. His heart wrenched hearing her sobs… he wanted to be there, near her… he wanted to hug her and tell her that everything will going to be okay. Alas! He can't do that.
Asad: "ZOYA…. Please…. Don't cry… you know that I hate tears in your eyes… Please don't cry Zoya… Please…. For me…. Please…"
As if understanding his pleading voice, she stopped crying…
Zoya: "Asad… he is back…"
Asad: "Who Zoya? Who?"
Zoya: "Kevin…"
Asad froze hearing that name… that very moment he knew why Zoya cried this much… only that one name can break his otherwise chirpy Zoya's heart…
