He's hold on to Zoya like no one else. He wouldn't tell her that he loves her, only to protect her from any grief if HE was somehow taken away from her. He wouldn't want her to suffer, but he would embrace his feelings more easily.

On another note, I think he would not be so angry. He would be silent and concentrated. He would try to avoid any chaos. He would be the frightened boy who toughened up with time and the weight of responsibilities, but not one who would ever physically hurt another being.
