Why YJHD has Open Big at BO? will it sustain?

There are few questions that are flowing in every movie goers mind. No doubt Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has open big, but the way it has stormed box office taken every one by surprise. We as a trade were expecting 15 crore nett at max on Opening day but to collect even 5 crore more is really surprising to be honest.

First of those questions was - Why Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has open big? Hmmm. There are few answers which in combination has taken effect at one go. First, Ranbir Kapoor is a big star at least in youth after Rockstar and Barfi!. Second Deepika Padukone is also a big star after Cocktail and Race 2. Thirdly moviegoers were thirst of good movie at box office despite Aashiqui 2 being a temporary cure for them. Fourth Reason is the film buzz. With increase in screens nowadays and audiences love to throng theaters for a good time, they just wait for good film. YJHD had good promos, chartbuster music and high on entertainment quotient. Thus, with there is craze for the film, people throng to theaters although mostly the youth on first day. But from Saturday and also Sunday family audiences are coming in numbers.

Now the next big question is will it sustain? With such big opening 100 crore is a safe bet for YJHD. Anything less than 100 crore from now on will just be more than miracle. Any film long run is known by its first two working days of collection after the weekend. That means Monday and Tuesday collection will throw light on that. Those days are even more important as Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 is releasing next week and no one can doubt Deols power at least in Northern Belt. If YJHD shows a drop of 50-55% on Monday it is safe for long run as Sunday is going to be huge. But if drop is more than that say 60%+ then film is in trouble. Tuesday drop should be less or equal to say 15%. If both these happens YJHD will look somewhere at 140-150 crore nett mark for lifetime. Variance from there on in positive or negative side will determine whether how much film will collect less or more than 140-150 crore nett range.
