| They put their best foot forward and won the Nach Baliye 2 title by an overwhelming margin of over four lakh votes. Hussain and Tina, who were also the viewers' favourite celebrity couple, had scored the perfect 30 five times on their way to the finals against Yash and Gauri's four 30s. Their graph progressed steadily that after the fifth round it was almost certain that the duo would walk away with Rs. 20 lakh prize money. "It's an overwhelming feeling," says a visibly excited Hussain. After a long pause he adds, "In the last 12 weeks I experienced all the possible emotions. It was an amazing journey and it had everything — laughter, happiness, sadness, joy and tiredness." But winning the competition was not their motto when they decided to participate in the show initially. "We wanted to experience it all. My wife was my major minus point and I was not sure of going beyond a few rounds. But the way she improved surprised me the most. Tina became a major plus point. I must thank my choreographers. They were excellent and deserve as much appreciation as we do," says Hussain who would also to like to thank his fans and viewers for voting him to victory. "The margin of victory surprised me completely. I didn't know I was so popular," he says. Adds Tina, "I am really, really happy. This the best wedding anniversary gift for us from Star One (December 21 is their wedding anniversary day)." Hussain and Tina began their Nach Baliye campaign on a sound footing. "We got 26 marks for our opening performance and we never went below 24," recalls Hussain, adding that the turning point came with the romantic round where they scored the perfect 30 for the first time. "After that we took the competition very seriously and started working very hard on the concepts, songs and rehearsals. With each round we started climbing higher and higher. The graph never took a dip." Now that it's all over Hussain is planning to go on a holiday with his wife. "We need it very badly," he says. After his return it will be back to work in Kumkum. But wasn't his role supposed to end? "It was supposed to wind up but now they are working afresh on the story. So I am going to be very much there," he signs off. |
