Dancing to success

The finals of the second season of Nach Baliye 2 may have just ended but the participants are still in the dancing mode. While Tina and Hussain Kuwajerwala cruised their way to victory (they won by a whopping four lakh vote margin), runners-up Gauri and Yash Tonk aren't feeling too bad about coming in second. After all, they beat the other eight couples to emerge as second favourites! Improving tremendously since the first episode, Gauri and Yash proved their mettle by giving tough competition to the other contestants in every round. And they're quite satisfied about the results.
"I'm very happy for Tina and Hussain; there was very healthy competition between us and in the end the better couple won," says Yash. His better half agrees with him. "We did feel a little disappointed but just the fact that we made it to the final was enough to make us feel thrilled! We had a very rickety start but made up our minds to improve with each episode and that is exactly what we did. Our aim was never to reach the finals; just to make it through each episode and as we started inching closer to the finals, we realised that winning may actually be possible," says Gauri.
The past few days have been even more stressful for Gauri, not only because of the finals but also because her father is in the hospital battling for his life. "My dad had promised me that he'll be there in the studio for the finals but was unable to do so because he got admitted to the ICU. My last performance was dedicated to him; I was so emotional during that. The feelings with which I danced during those final moments are something that only I know. But he's happy because Yash and I gave it our best shot, that's what really matters to him," says a poignant Gauri. According to Yash, "We're really going to miss coming to shoot for Nach Baliye, we had so much fun here- the rehearsals, the other couples, our choreographer, and how we used to eat Pani Puri during our rehearsals in the night together. Now, of course, everyone will be busy with other assignments but we've promised to be n constant touch with each other. The journey that we all shared in the last three months is the one thing Gauri and I will always cherish."
