ITS ALL ABOUT RAINDROPS AND ROSES - PART A
Romance is in the air when Ashni are around. Their sheer presence exuded romance, every look exchanged, every word uttered, every little gesture seemed to underline the love they shared. Small, everyday objects and experiences seemed to take on a new meaning for them. As they grew as a couple one could feel the growth in the depth of their relationship just by the way they cared for the other person before themselves. So lets take a walk down memory lane and look at another gesture that defined ASHNI Romance'..RAINDROPS AND ROSES.

These are a few of my favorite things"
These is the beginning of the famous song 'A Few of my Favorite Things' from the musical play and movie 'A Sound of Music'. Just like Maria who thought of rain on roses petals as one of the things to uplift her mood, Ashni in our show loved rain and roses.
These two things always brought a smile on their faces and held a special place in their heart and in their story. Two simple creations of nature that helped bind Ashni and uplifted their day. In the initial episodes of the show we were told that Ashu in his youth loved flowers as well as getting wet in the rain. These were two interests he shared with BB, two things he learnt from BB, two things that connected him to BB. But after BBs desertion he gave them up, even loathed the sight or mention of them.
The 'Rain':
Until one night a young girl, Nidhi, 18 years his junior forced him to step out into the rain once more. That night simply washed away all those old, painful memories associated with rain and BB and in turn new ones were formed in Nidhi's company. From that point on Ashu came to associate rain with Nidhi and not his Baba...
1. First moments in the rain: What an unforgettable moment it was when a soaking wet Nidhi pulled a protesting Ashu out of the car. And much to his surprise he thoroughly enjoyed it! Earlier Nidhi's joy and child-like excitement caught Ashu's attention and later Ashu's total abandonment in the rain caught hers.. The rest as they say is history...
2. Realization in the rain: It was yet another stormy night, in the midst of the tempest raging inside and out Ashu once more ventured into the rain when he realized his love for Nidhi, and she scooted back in as she realized the futility of her love (or so she thought that day!)...
3. Romancing in the rain: During a picnic that happened on Mallika's insistence, Ashni manage to squeeze a few moments to themselves and they once again get drenched in the sudden downpour. The first time they got wet in the rain after their marriage and they stole some romantic moments while Mallika burned with jealousy...
4. Last time in the Rain: In the evening on his birthday Ashu arranged a romantic date for two on a hill top, he set all the 43 roses he got on the table. And lo and behold there is a downpour of rain, the other witness to the Ashni love, as if even rain could not stay away on this special occasion...
The 'Roses':
The story with the rose is similar. In the initial episodes we witnessed how Ashu detested the sight of flowers. He even chided Mallika when she kept a bouquet in his office. But we also saw in his younger days Ashu was an avid gardener. So in Mallika's presence when Nidhi unknowingly offers him a rose as a 'Get Well Soon' gesture something in him makes him accept it shocking Mallika to her very core. And this rose giving became a routine with Ashni, but surprisingly Ashu has never reciprocated this gesture. With this unique couple it was always the girl who gave the rose...
1. A Rose is a Rose: The first time in the rain made Ashu sick and Nidhi guilty and restless to see him. Ignoring Anji's warning about the 18 years gap with a question of her own as to whether the rose cared about the person's age, dressed in a saree she went to Ashu's house with a rose to enquire about his health, her first steps towards Ashu...
2. 'Get well soon' Rose: After their wonderful candle-light tea gets interrupted by a jealous Mallika, Nidhi leaves but not before she gifts the rose she got for Ashu. And again Ashu surprises himself and stuns Mallika by accepting it from Nidhi's hands...
It was the last rose and Nidhi's letter that Armaan discovered which led to the revelation of the truth. Both were safely preserved by Ashu in his drawer...
