UB shirts is a method of wearing shirts, generally by guys. UB stands for unbuttoned. As to why it is so important, partly because they need to maintain TRP's, and because it is a fashionable trend in both Western and Indian television. They are revealing without being vulgar. Just like a tight T shirt would be close-fitting but not inappropriate.
