i think Katrina kaif is the best flowerpot in history!

Sonali Bendre in 90s and Neelam in 80s were other good flowerpots.

Anushka Sharma (it's not her cup of tea)
Vidya Balan
Tabu
Smita Patil
Shirdokar sisters (Namrata and Shilpa)
Shriya Saran (at least in Bollywood)

It's a myth that acting can only be displayed by showy pretentious roles of autistics or blind people or prostitutes etc. Acting simply is inhabiting a character, and depending on your role, you would require different levels of skills, and techniques to achieve that. So, in essence, flowerpot roles do require acting. Most of my favorite performances are there where acting techniques are not visible, and one can effortlessly become a character.

Flowerpot roles do require a bit of acting, though I am not sure if Katrina is the best in the department. I think the traditional Bollywood heroines were all great in such roles.

Sonam despite her looks do not look great in flowerpot roles, but Vidya is by far the worst.

The main thing about flower pot roles and movies that require flower pots, you have to be comfortable in doing silly things on screen in a story that does not make sense and have a straight face mouthing cheesy lines and dancing the most silly steps. You just have to be comfortable and believe in that type of cinema and you are good! And you must look pretty, sexy and charming on screen and be able to dance very well.

But Sonam and Vidya cannot do typical masala films and I think that's coz they don't believe in those type of cinema. They also suck in dancing! The are awkward when they have to do silly things. I think same goes for Asin who I think is a decent actress.

I think Sonakshi can do both. I love her in the Lootera promo and also liked her in the Dabangg promo and that item song she did in some movie. Katrina is charming to look at on screen but a very weak actress.

most hero oriented films need a flowerpot heroine to look pretty and serve as an eye candy for the audience and ofcourse romance the handsome hero and play his girl, so yh its still a role that u hav to play convincingly no matter how small or unimportant ..for example sonakshi who shined through in dabangg and was commendable! 👍🏼
