Madhur, Ranvirs pact for publicity

As Traffic Signals release date draws near, director Madhur Bhandarkar is looking for novel ways to promote his film. And our story about Konkona Sen Sharma splitting from cheating boyfriend Ranvir Shorey (HiTLIST, December 11) seemed like a good excuse to milk publicity.

Since the former lovers star in the film together, Bhandarkar probably fears that the audience might find chemistry lacking between his lead pair. So his PR and media cronies have put their heads together and gone into overdrive releasing press statements saying the same thing: how Ranvir would drive down to Karjat every day to be with his lady love.

The only little detail they forgot to mention is that the films shooting was over more than a month ago, before the split happened (three weeks ago, Konkona was in Banaras shooting for Pradeep Sarkars new film). So Madhur, is your new mantra Publicity ke liye kuch bhi karega?

P.S. Poor Ranvir is crying ill-treatment by the media. But on the day we broke the break-up story, he called a friend and cried on her shoulder.

Why are they being so mean to me? Konkona didnt dump me. I dumped her! was his startling revelation. Oh, boo hoo!

When it comes to party etiquette, some stars are rather particular. Like Akshay Kumar, who walked in dot on time at the launch of Stardust magazines German edition. The actor exuded a cool vibe in a casual shirt and low jeans, and the shutterbugs relentlessly pursued him from the time he entered the venue.

But Akki had to leave early as he had to rush to Madh Island to shoot for Sajid Nadiadwalas Hey Baby! Incidentally, hes paired opposite Vidya Balan in the film and currently theyre shooting a song sequence.

But what Akshay is most excited about is his upcoming holiday with wife Twinkle and son Aarav. Come Tuesday and the Kumars will be heading to America for a short break. Akshay continues his tradition of not being in town on the eve of his big release (this time its Bhagam Bhag, releasing next Friday).

Looks like this kind of bhagam bhag has become routine for him.

Here was a clear case of confused celebrations. Fitness enthusiasts were supposed to make a beeline for the opening party of Leena Mogres fitness academy at Shivaji Park, but it appeared that Sameera Reddy wanted a public platform to yell, Its my bday today, so wish me now!

While Sam treated herself to a Barbie doll cake, patrons who dropped in to wish her luck included Neha Dhupia, Raj Thackeray with his wife, Brinda Parekh and Bhairavi Goswami.

Our recent story on Sammir Dattanis brush with history created a bit of hysteria. Apparently, Dattani doesnt own the former Wayside Inn (now called Silk Route).

The place is owned by a family friend, Pervez Patel, and the Dattanis are only running the restaurant.

But who cares? We still love the place!
