He was put in the criminal's circle, in the spotlight and in a tight spot today. All eyes were on him and all expectations and questions were for him. Zoe was glaring at him to open his mouth and save the day. Dilshoo was looking at him to see if its her son or Rashid's shadow. BCA was confident that Asad will fail everyone. Aapi , somehow, having an innate confidence and faith in Asad was not accusing him like she did with Zoe and Dilshoo - she just wanted the truth and she wanted Asad's truth because Zoe and Dilshoo were in the 'Wo actually' phase.
Asad was cornered and he was in the spotlight - there was no escaping here and no Zoe to shield him because this was Aapi and not Dreamum Dancer. And as destiny would have it, just so that Asad has no reason to lie, Asad got to know that Dilshoo was never ill - there was no reason to marry Zoe to make Dilshoo happy. Yet, for a change, Asad spoke his heart , looking straight at Zoe, across Phoophi. Desperation, testing times, tragedy, threats , extreme conditions always snatch away Asad's 'Wo Actually' blanket and he speaks the truth. So, he looked at Zoe and answered Aapi - "Whatever you saw between me and Zoya is the truth. This Nikaah and all this jazz is TRUE." His eyes were tearful and Zoe's face lit up like a cosmopolitan city's power plant. Asad had said 'yes' to marry her , again and Zoe was jubilant for the nth time.
But...only momentarily. Yes, Zoe would marry Asad right now if the Nikaah could be pre-poned. She would loved to be called Mrs.Zoya Asad Ahmed Khan. She will do anything to have a family with him and belong here . But how can she know if this is what Asad really wants?
When Aapi asks Zoe whether she is sure this time that she wants to marry Asad and she won't run off from the Nikaah, Zoe looks at Asad because this time, its not about Zoe being sure or unsure - its about Asad's multitude of shades and excuses. Zoe is convinced on the inside that Asad does not want to marry her and he is being pressurized into this alliance. So, as her mind and heart run parallel to Asad's , if Asad is not sure or definite, how can Zoe be sure and definite? He says yes on Monday, says no on Tuesday and goes ' wo actually' on Wednesday. What is the guarantee that Asad loves her and will not run away on the day of the Nikhaah?
So, she goes charging at Asad and gives him the lashing of his life which basically means that loving me is not enough , i need to KNOW that you love me , will marry me and we will make gorgeous babies together! Open your mouth and just tell me for once and all whether you are gonna marry me or not? This is no longer a charade and we are no longer on a carousel. We are in a real world, with real people and they happen to have real emotions and they all can get hurt beyond repair.
But Asad? He is still standing at the first step of the drawbridge. Fine , i admit i love her , i want to marry her but how do i take that PLUNGE? Why doesn't everyone understand that soulmates are not happy people? People in love only cause misery to each-other! I have seen my parents and they did love each-other but what happened? They are miserable, apart , unhappy and suffering. I don't recall any happiness that love brought to my Mom. My father failed the test of love and today he is in a hell and we all are a part of that hell. The moment i say that i love Zoe, i will cross the bridge and all the omens will come true. I will devastate her - i just know it and don't ask me how. I have known it all my life that i will destroy woman i love and create another Dilshad.
This is when his mother steps in - nobody knows it , Zoe and the audience are frustrated that why can't he just say that he loves her. Dilshad answers all the questions. She tells him and the fandoms that he is not Rashid . Just because your parents had a failed marriage and are miserable , it doesn't mean you and Zoe will be Rashid-Dilshad reloaded. You can have a different destiny , Asad and that destiny is Zoe. Separate yourself from our shadows and let Little Asad go. You love Zoya and you have always loved her - accept it and leave the rest of it to Providence.
But valid question. Is Asad's intuition and his future memory of what is to become of him and Zoe so baseless? What if it is not just a baggage but Asad's inner voice telling him that if he takes the plunge towards Zoe , he is going to destroy her and himself too? Or will Dilshoo's faith and the power of Zoe's love defy Asad's belief that soulmates never meet and are always miserable people?
For the rest, Zoe's jealousy was adorable and passionate at the same time. I mean, who gets jealous of a man touching a man?😆... chill, Zoe. Dreamum cannot do anything to your Asad baby owing to the laws of biological isolation. But it made Asad happy and Zoe intense. - she had to admit that she was jealous and she was not shy or embarrassed about it. What is hers is hers. Saamne waale ka gender jo bhi ho, Asad ko chhoonaa manaa hai. 😉...A lot of physical tension was going on between Asad and Zoe today. Thanks to Mr.Dreamum and his idli. 😆
P.S- Aapi loves Asad . Ek hi question ke answer mein ladkaa approve ho gayaa and for a change Asad had an answer while Zoe and Dilshoo were 'wo actually'. 🤣
P.P.S- Zoe's dress for the Sangeet is FUGLY and only that lovely pink dupatta saves the day. Asad boring hai toh kya grey kapde pehnogee? Grey? Like, seriously? 😲
